spaceflightorange I find the 8 minute test very hard. Cant push big gears. The 20 minute test is better for me as I can hold a higher cadence. But still very hard work. It has some grate programs and boy dose it work you. The more you put in the more you will get out. So work hard and enjoy the pain. I struggle to push big gears too, but at the moment I'm struggling to hold a high cadence on the road (typically in the high 70's; 80's would be better) managing it on the turbo, but thats not factoring in weight/wind resistance/gradient, but it will come with time I hope. I did the Gayley workout last night. Its to confirm your FTP, and it's 4x8min at FTP. was a killer! definitely the hardest I've ever worked on the turbo! not sure whats in store for me tomorrow

Cadence comes with time. Some people can spin and some cant what ever works for you stay with it. That's a nice work out Gayley 4x8 at FTP is hard work. I started with the 20 minute power program which I think was a bit to soon. Not enough fitness. The work out Crag 6x4 at 105% of FTP just could not hold it on the last interval. There not enough rest in-between intervals 45 second. But saying that I can see the difference on the road. I like the feed back as you are do the work out. It some how keeps you going.

Can't get on with the turbo trainers so opted for aluminium rollers. Bit of a challenge with cleats at first but worth persisting.
With having to concentrate you don't get bored so quick.

Done three sessions now, and I don't know if its psychological or not, but I'm convinced I can feel the difference, I did, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday, with 2 days off. I then did 30 miles on Saturday, and 50 on Sunday.
I am now paying much more attention to my Cadence rather than the speed, and by shifting regularly and maintaing a cadence of 85-95, I found the riding easier, was moving faster, and suffered less fatigue. (certainly no cramp, which i usually get on long rides)
I'll be back on the trainer tomorrow, and Thursday, ready for the weekend.
I did 123 miles last week, including turbo time!

First decent Turbo session tonight, about 45 mins. I mainly used it to be on and of making micro adjustments to saddle and bar position, when you get it right you can tell. You think yes, that's very comfortable!

Just got off the turbo. Boy that was hard work and very hot. But feel good now that I have done it. Have been a bit slack for the last 4 weeks . Time to get going again.
