Bought a BKool virtual reality turbo trainer from Wiggle which arrived Xmas eve, done around 50 miles on it so far to test it out. So far I have tried Mt. Ventoux but that killed me after 3 miles of climbing I wussed out, a 28 mile triathlon route against 6 bots, Luyando-Bilbao in Spain which was fun and a 17 mile local route I did outdoors and imported. Lovin it so far. Sounds superb. How much if don't mind me asking Errr too much, cost more than my bike lol www.wiggle.co.uk/bkool-turbo-trainer-package-with-cadence-sensor/My Xmas present to myself.

Finally decided to get the B'Twin In'Ride trainer after much deliberation, working on the premise that it wasn't worth spending more than absolutely necessary as I hope to be outside most of the time (eternal optimist that I am). All I can say so far is that it holds me up and I can give it some stick without any undue movement of the frame. I also decided that it would be the best bet for me as it has a quick release system and I can't leave the bike in situ after use. Legs and lungs have coped okay so far but I have realised that, without the benefit of traffic light stops for a quick shuffle, I need better padded shorts and yes, you do sweat!
The trainer is easy to set up, with a quick assembly consisting of screwing on a handle for the roller adjuster using the supplied allen key and a swap out of the rear skewer, again provided, as the one on my T3A doesn't fit. Everything else is preassembled. There's no front riser block but a wood cutoff from the cellar does the job for me.

Did an hour fourty on my turbo this morning. Basically hour twenty tempo ride with few one minute sprints dotted throughout with ten mims warm up amd down. Anyway kept myself sane with youtube vids. Can highly recommend 'mark Cavendish human missile' which was about 50 mins following cav through tour de france when won 5 stages. Then watched bit of a video on 2009 (or was it 2010) tdf with Armstrong and contedor battling it out. Also found 'stars and water carriers' about eddy merxk. All highly recommended. Anyone know any other free vids on youtube?

Two pure cycling sessions worth watching are last year's Paris Roubaix and Tour of Flanders - the full race coverage is on YouTube ... both very good endings; if you find the race end (not the end of the coverage, the actual race) and calculate back your time, it would make a good cycle along session; you'll be chasing Cancellara all the way!

I think the supplied skewer is provided as a safety feature because it is more robust. The nut and clamp on a normal skewer are not designed to carry the full weight of a bike and rider. It is interesting how much oil a freshly lubed chain can spray onto a carpet

I had this style of speed cadence sensor when I had my Mio 305 and although it works as its supposed to I quickly swapped it over for a Garmin one as I felt the Garmin looked tidier and more compact.

Have a look www.trainerroad.com/A guy in work has been using this for a while now and highly recommends it. I want to start using it but with decorating the house I have nowhere to set up the turbo right now

I have not been on the trainer for two weeks. Climbed on it yesterday and did the 20 minute test on Trainer road. Boy was that hard work but felt dame good after wards. Have not been riding as much of late and it shows. My FTP has dropped not good. So I back on it again.

Have not been riding as much of late and it shows. My FTP has dropped not good. So I back on it again. Did my first 2 sessions on Trainer Road. Hardest I've ever worked on the turbo, and it wasn't boring either! had a few setup issues but these are almost all resolved. Biggest issue I had was setting up my turbo profile. I set it when I signed up. the I logged in at home to find the profile had reset, so I changed it again and started the app up. didn't notice it was reset in that too! so i rode the 2x8min FTP with the wrong profile and got an FTP of 627! the watts it calculated I was putting out, well, Cav would have been jealous! anyway, second session I noticed the profile was wrong and reset it, and I couldn't get anywhere near the target power! I contacted support and they re-processed my FTP test with the correct profile and all is good. support was very quick too! Highly recommended

I need better padded shorts and yes, you do sweat! A good tip is to pop to Sports Direct or similar and get a couple of sweat bands for your head. they work well though they did make the missus laugh when I put them on. A tip for using the turbo is to check your seating position and ensure your sit bones are in contact with the wings of the saddle and tilt your pelvis back a bit to relieve pressure. feels odd but definitely helps. Its one of the tips that pops up during a Trainer Road session.

spaceflightorange I find the 8 minute test very hard. Cant push big gears. The 20 minute test is better for me as I can hold a higher cadence. But still very hard work. It has some grate programs and boy dose it work you. The more you put in the more you will get out. So work hard and enjoy the pain.
