After smoking for almost 40 years, started as soon as i arrived at boarding school, managed to quit 3 years ago by going on a course through my local doctors. You get a prescription of little blue pills weak to start then stronger for phase two and they worked a treat. Still get the urge now and then but its only a passing thought. I thought i would never give up but I did and if I can then anyone can.

Best of luck. I went cold turkey. I'm 60 now, started at 15 and decided at 29 I'd been smoking half my life. Set a date to give it up, which was my birthday (30th May) but managed on the 19th May (1985). Took me about 6 months to really get over it. Best thing I ever did. Set yourself a target and work towards it.

I'll hit six months next week. All down to cycling. I can't enjoy it if I can't push myself and I can't push myself if I can't use all my lungs, so when I started my training for my first sportive at the end of May I quit the ciggies.
Have barely wanted one since. I even managed the Isle of Wight Festival without one - the first time I've not smoked in the nine consecutive ones I've been to.
Of course, now I've written this I do sort of fancy one, but that'll pass in a matter of seconds.

Your right how the cycling is a very positive thing when it comes to helping live a new healthy lifestyle. OT My visit to Isle of Wight Festival was probably before most here on the forum was born, (hint) top of the bill Bob Dylan.
