I think I'll try to hit Zwift tonight if anyone wants to join me. Likely around 8-8:30... but depends on traffic. The new Turbo has arrived so going to try and get on there tonight but see how the day goes first, pub might be calling me tonight!

Traffic on Zwift? or your journey home? traffic on zwift can happen! but yes on way home... a paltry 130 mile drive today through the rush hour. #NoFun 130 mile drive in rush hour... That's an impressive average speed You got extra magnets on your car wheels as well?

so what's the craic with this zwift? I have a standard magnetic, non connected TT. But a garmin 810, with speed, HR and cadence sensor..
so if I buy the usb connector for my laptop I can use the garmin sensors on this with my extisting TT?
Thanks

Yep but the none supported trainers might give you some unrealistic power data. They don't have to be smart trainers but ideally you want a supported one.

Thanks jon Yip you sure can The usb ant+ dongle in the laptop talks direct to the ant+ sensors on your bike and your HR strap, (no need to use your Garmin 810 - though you can if you wish) In addition because you will be using an unsupported trainer you will be capped to a max of 400w by Zwift

Unfortunately your prediction is all to right (though I point out I said through [correctly], not during [which would be incorrect]) - But having been stationary/1st gear on the A34 for more than an hour, I only just got home... no zwift for me tonight, I still need to eat. Tomorrow maybe.

Set the Vortex up this morning, easy to setup and update the firmware via the Tacx app. Connected up to Swift easy enough so got riding the Richmond circuit, first thing i noticed was how much quieter it was to the older Tacx Statori i was using. Anyway first 5 ish miles are pretty flat so didn't really notice anything it was only when i got to the first climb and it ramped up to 7% and nothing happened! Damn, whats going on? Unplugged it and plugged it back in and bang the resistance kicked it!
All i can say is this trainer has now taken Zwift to a new level, quite amazing how it all works and how tough it makes it!

Good isn't it! You suddenly realise that the last 1km run in to start finish line on Richmond is uphill too! Have found on Wattopia after the main big climb there are a number of sections where you get rolling terrain and if you get enough speed up the little inclines and over crest the sudden resistance drop really make you feel that you have crested a hill

You are more than welcome to see if we can start a Virtual BROC Run ? Glad you enjoyed the upgrade.

How does this game simulate descending? Do you stop if you freewheel or do some trainers have a motor in them to power the back wheel?

Do you stop if you freewheel ? yes As said yes, on the flat or uphill. However if your in a downhill section and you stop peddling you seem to freewheel at a reasonable pace. Also puts you in a tuck position on the bike.

I upgraded my Tacx booster for a Kickr snap, with the Kickr in ERG mode it is brilliant, most of the time I use the workouts on TrainerRoad using 2 ant+ sticks TrainerRoad controls the resistance for the Kickr and sends a signal to the other ant+ stick for zwift to pick up the power and cadence. I find the workouts on TrainerRoad better than the one on Zwift at the moment.

Seems a popular thread.
OK, talk to me like I'm a 9 year old.
I have the bike and Elite Super Crono Elastogel turbo trainer. (No whistles or bells) I have an iPhone, iPad and a laptop at my disposal. What else do I need to jump onto the bandwagon?

You need to sit on the bike and turn the pedals with your legs. Do you remember how?
