I've not noted drafting stuff. It gets hard as the incline increases and easier as you go down hill. There are occasionally little icons above riders (Lorry, feather etc) but I just ignore that. I'm just there to beast myself for an hour. There definitely is drafting, the visual clue is when your avatar is on the hoods (drafting) and in the drops (not drafting) and you should feel the resistance change too, its subtle so in a race you really need to concentrate or you could miss a break

Now don't go laughing. I haven't used Zwift but Karen has now sacked off TrainerRoad and started a subscription. She seems to benefit from having visual queues and virtual competition to spur her on. It's running on a Samsung Galaxy S9 mirrored to a TV via a ChromeCast dongle. The end result is pretty fluid and slick. I've had it running on an older A5 2017 phone but the frame rate is a fair bit lower. We don't own anything running Windows 10 other than her school laptop which is locked down unfortunately and it's a new Lenovo AMD Ryzen 5 too.
What are you guys running it on and what sort of experience do you get. The graphics don't look like they need that much horsepower to be honest. Unreal Tournament running on a GeForce 3 from circa year 2000 seems better?

That enables me to see me, the course and other riders. I have an old iPad running Zwift Companion app. That is attached to my handlebars with a Tacx handlebar mount. I then use my phone to use a Discord channel, when cycling with friends, or using Spotify to listen to some groovy choons! P.S. I was using Miracle grow and a wheel while my Kickr Climb was being replaced!

I tried mirroring my phone when I first started in lockdown 1 but struggled with it freezing so tried an old pc which wasn't too bad for Zwift but couldn't keep up with RGT. I then bought a cheap 'gaming' pc off ebay DELL 3020 i5 QUAD CORE GHz 16GB RAM SSD+ SATA 2GB GT710 WIFI WIN10 GAMING PC which after a bit of faff with bluetooth/ant+ dongles and a cable connection to the router works fairly reliably on either platform. I have a monitor on a wall mount in front of the bike with my phone running zwift companion on a handlebar mount. The graphics are a bit irrelevant to me apart from seeing your position relative to other riders and apparently this is different between the platforms with RGT requiring more processing power but giving a more accurate picture with less lag.

Karen did a group activity last night on the Jungle course. It was obvious that choosing a virtual MTB had an advantage over a virtual road bike. Doing some research I found that at 200W the MTB was 2 minutes faster than the road bike on this course. Interesting physics...

I have the first bike Zwift gave me and the first clothes picked for my Avatar. For me, its about getting on the bike and burning calories and beasting oneself. Today my lap times of that circuit were 7 mins off my pb (which I think was in a race when given a mtb). But at the end of 4 laps I was spent!

I quite like the 'game' aspects of Zwift tbh and it's certainly the cheapest way to get a new bike! I did the TDZ stage round the jungle yesterday as well, I used the free Zwift MTB rather than buying a better one, overtook a lot of road bikes and got a PB lap time Really good workout with the climb every lap and a sprint finish. www.strava.com/activities/4743812244

Karen rode the Jungle circuit again today but on the standard MTB. 3 minutes a lap faster than the road bike for similar power.

Karen has set herself the goal of climbing the Alpe du Zwift in under an hour. Previous attempts were 80 minutes and 70 minutes. Tonight was her latest attempt. She chose the Trek Emonda frame and pre ride weigh in said 57Kg, not bad for someone who used to weigh 105Kg. We calculated she needed to hold 180W. She managed to hold 178W and came in at 1 hour 3 minutes 15 seconds so we need a little bit more power next time and some more cooling as she lost over 1Kg in sweat, same as me.

Well, you can tell Karen that she's faster up there than me! Although, in all honesty, that's probably not an accolade that many people haven't achieved. At my 'peak' I managed to do it in 1 hour 5 mins. Pretty amazing weight loss too - Chapeau!
