Haven't been Zwifting for a bit now - Not since RobP annihilated me in one of the KISS races I still have the Mach set up on the turbo, but the weather has been pretty good on the whole and I've spent a lot of time outside (or at spin classes). I've paid up on Zwift until the beginning of next month, so was going to leave the Mach on the turbo until then. If we get some bad weather I'll get on board, but if not I'll be outside on the T5. Come the start of next month, if the weather is set fair, I'm thinking of stopping subscription. Is that what everyone else does or do you carry on year round? Work means I have a daily 80 mile each way commute so time to get out in the evening is limited, For this reason I really enjoy the Tues and Thurs races with the reward of an escape to the country at the weekend so will continue my subscription through the year

Had a day off today so thought I'd get few miles in on turbo.... www.strava.com/activities/919252091One heck of a good race - 3 laps of flat course then up Zwift mountain - finish at EPIC KOM banner. Came 2nd I think, got into a breakaway early on then we were caught by main group on last lap. Then hit mountain - one guy flew off never to be seen again, one went after him and I was in 3rd. Slowly reeled in 2nd place and caught him about half way up then pretty much by myself to finish with 3rd fading away and 1st out of sight!

All gone v quiet on here - people still using zwift and racing? I'm still using it for nearly all my training (i.e. not commuting or races) and still really enjoying it. Had really good race on zwift other day.

Yep been using it solidly since the new year. Normally train, rest a day, train, rest etc. So on it 2 or 3 times a week. Seen my FTP go up by 70W (from a fairly low start point of course) and I'd say it's certainly helped with the sportives and longer club rides I do. Haven't done any races in a while though.

I find it hard to just ride round - get bored, but the workouts are good and keep my interest - however a group ride is great for steady training and a race makes me push myself far harder then I can in a workout! Always amazed when look at power post race - how did I manage that!

I'm a newbie to Zwift and turbo trainers and have found it a maze of information. I'd like to try out a race or group riding but so far have decided just to focus on FTP training in the short term. I'm doing the beginners 6 week one and have just finished the first te days. Very enjoyable so far. Has anyone here tried racing or group rides? How does Zwift handle this? It appears that you should bridge gaps, hold wheels etc. How can this be incorporated to the game? Do you get a power benefit from sitting on a wheel or is it just down to abit of luck? Maybe this thread can be used for tips, resources etc? I found this site was good for scoping out workouts and plans to try before loading up the software on Zwift? It also tells you the course schedule. whatsonzwift.com

If you look back in the thread you will see RobP explaining it to me. All I use now is: www.zwiftpower.com/events.phpThat tells me what's scheduled and result details. I log on to Zwift, look on the calendar at the race I want to do and click 'C' (which is the category I am in). I normally do this 15-20 mins before the race. Zwift asks whether I want to join the race. If I click 'join' I am transported to the starting line where there is a clock counting down. I then pedal like mad during the race! I've not noted drafting stuff. It gets hard as the incline increases and easier as you go down hill. There are occasionally little icons above riders (Lorry, feather etc) but I just ignore that. I'm just there to beast myself for an hour.

Plenty of content and posts for me to read through. Zwift seems quite addictive so far.
