As its been a while and the 100 is on Sunday I thought it may as well give my last update before the ride itself.
Sooooooo, a few stats to start off. I've had the bike for about 3 & a half months now and done the following according to Strava, although the first few rides i did i didn't have Strava and on a few my phones died before I've finished the rides but hey its a good approx.
Distance 645.5 mi
Total Time 45h 3m
Elev Gain 17,454 ft
Rides 31
All-Time
Distance 645.5 mi
Rides 31
Biggest Ride 76.4 mi
Biggest Climb 600 ft
Weight loss, just over 1 stone(through riding alone no change in diet).
All in all i think after 13 years of not riding my attempt to get into this cycling lark is not to shabby, averaging about 20 miles per ride now when after my first 10 mile outing i thought i may die!
Sunday I think I'm ready for it, I managed to get out with Rob from off here to do some of the course in some shocking weather so I know unless the bike dies on me Ill finish the 100 miles, how long it will take me though is any ones guess.
As this was my aim and main motivation for cycling(signed up for it before I had a bike). I've been thinking of other things to keep me going and to aim for & if any one else has any ideas or anything good to do then let me know, it will be much appreciated.
1- A turbo trainer for the winter in the garage. Mainly so times like now I could at least do a bit rather than having to wait or not being able to due to the bambino and me and the mrs working etc.
2- New bike. The Alur 700 was what I originally wanted and still do, but timing wise now I may be better off getting something that will shortly be reduced up to about the 1k mark.
3- Another set of wheels for the bike, something cheap like the 501's. Would have a spare wheel set up to leave on the turbo trainer to save messing about then.
4- A coast to coast (or 2), going to start looking into these soon.
5- Duathlon - Gives me something to aim for & to get back trying to do some running again with the long term goal of a triathlon (i can dream)
6 - TT - again something to aim for and keep motivated.
7- Join a local club. To help motivation and get used to riding more with others.
8- Hills - Need to do more for fitness and work on getting off the saddle more.
9- Weight & Fitness - Ultimately if all else fails if i just improve these two more then I'll be happy.
