and then there was one.
Penultimate rider finished yesterday, and at the rate David Coulon is going it could be at least 4 days until he finishes. Last 4 days he rode < 300kms, so with 400kms left it could be another week.

I take it noone here has applied for TCR 2018, as I think the deadline for application has now passed. In any case, here is another one for the dot-watchers Tour AotearoaNot suitable for road bikes, I see from the route that it covers a number of the various rail trails around NZ, including the Hauraki Rail Trail which I did most of over Xmas. Also, a few various boatrides along the way including a jetboat down Whanganui River, obviously the Cook Strait Ferry, and a ferry across the lake at Queenstown. Rules require that finishes are min 10 days and max 30 days, and they have 30 photostops required (one being Hobbiton). I'm going to keep this map anyway, so that I can follow some of the route next time I am in NZ myself - would be a great option for a bikepacking tour. www.kennett.co.nz/maps/tour-aotearoa/

Whoops. I missed the start. The riders are on day 4 by now I think.
Last years 1/2, James Hayden and Bjorn Lenhard are at the front again.

Whoops. I missed the start. The riders are on day 4 by now I think. Last years 1/2, James Hayden and Bjorn Lenhard are at the front again. James Hayden wins again It seemed like it was going to be very exciting for 2nd for while, when at one stage, 8 guys were all sleeping at the town on CP4 at the same time (albeit some had done the parcours and some had not). I believe Rene Bonn was first out in the morning but had route issues, (and still to finish right now). Not sure who of Bjorn Lenhard and Matt Falconer was out first, but Bjorn routing screwed him (not for the first time) Stephane Ouja looked like a favourite to finish 2nd at one stage, but then got something like 7 punctures in a row with no more spare tubes/decent glue. Not sure what happened in the end. Good on Matt Falconer finishing 2nd. He is my 'local' guy, being a member of G!ro cafe/club down the road from where I used to live in Kingston, Surrey. 21:12 Matthew Falconer has finished (2nd) 22:37 Björn Lenhard has finished (3rd) 23:46 Alexandre Le Roux has finished (4th)

Josh Cunningham 6kms from the finish. Not sure what year it was, but one year I started following him on instagram, and then he went on a ride through central asia. ETA looks like he has a book out. www.joshuacunningham.info/blog/2018/2/19/escape-by-bikeEagainTA: Oh, he rode from London to Hong Kong. That gives davefy a run for his money.

I see that Bjorn Lenhard, who finished 3rd, will soon be on a plane to Bishkek for the SRMR - www.silkroadmountainrace.cc/srmr-provisional-start-list/Also a couple of names I recognise from previous years TCR, including Min Hao Hsiu who did it on a BTwin. + Gareth Baines, Ultan Coyle, Martin Cox, Mikko Mäkipää
