I thought we had it sorted a while back Z, I will admit I have muddied the waters confusing the T5a / T500 / T500SE recently but in naming terms only - I could go back and edit the mistake on the names only and the comments still stand ... I'll have worn a set of cranks out by the time some people get on with it lol !

Just to confuse matters many of the bikes have already changed on the system to the new name, eg Riverside 300 despite us having exactly the same stock (Riverside 3) Someone put a link on this thread a while ago to the T500 on the B'Twin site and the picture is a T5 (they dropped the 'a' when the previous T5 was discontinued, but which has now come back briefly as the T5se)

So on the strength of two pics of brake callipers, you'd then wait a couple of months on the grounds of getting a potential Sora rear calliper? The stem (?), the cranks will be Sora, the rear mech will be Sora, the front mech will be Sora, the bars most likely the same, the frame most likely the same, the wheels most likely the same, the shifters will be Sora, the pedals(?), the bar tape(?), the saddle(?), the cables(?). You could ride a 1000 kms waiting . I haven't looked at this thread in full but I'm assuming there is no spec for the T500? Based on what you've said is it fair to say that the only differences between the T5a and T500 are: - brake calipers; - colour / name; and - price (£449 for T500 and £429 for T5a)? Not sure it's worth waiting at all but I could be swayed by looks.

i though it was 500, 500se, alur, mach, ultra replaces t3a t5a t7 fc facet Based on perniciousviper's post on page 2 of this thread that doesn't sound right, I copied these quotes from that post and have highlighted the relevant bits: "Andrew Lorenzi, b’Twin production engineer, then took the assembled media through the 2014 range, starting with the T500 SE, which was introduced as essentially the replacement for the Triban 3. That’s right, the classic red T3 has finally reached the end of the line. If it wasn’t for the UK arm of Decathlon snapping up the last 6,000 or so forks and frames from France for the UK market they wouldn’t have been around half as long and I suspect quite a number of us wouldn’t be on the forum today." "The next bike to get a look in is the slightly better spec’d older bro to the SE - simply known as the T500. Same frame as the SE but features a full Sora groupset (and no blue hoods, which I have to say I didn’t like at all, looked a bit cheap). This is going out for £450."

I think PV was talking in the early stages where we all started wondering why such similarly named bikes ... no doubt where this confusion germinated ... I was clear on spec's in my own head but not names. Z was being obtuse and ironic (perhaps? or he may have just got confused like the rest of us), he was having a joke with his carbon forks quip! You'll have to excuse us, it's like deja vu and we went through all this with the T3a 12 months ago. To try and be clear, this is what I believe the order is: 2012 - Red T3, White T5 2013 - White T3a, Black T5a, Black T7, Facet 2014 - T5(00)SE, T500, Alur, Mach, Ultrachas, please confirm and I'll either amend or simply leave as is, then lock this thread, as it's not easy to follow - we'll start a new one based on the confirmed info.

No offence to Decathlon but it does seem like a bit of a bollocks organisationally. The picture of the T500 on the btwin website is the T5a and the price is wrong too (unless of course that picture is in fact the T500 and I'm mistaken): www.btwin.com/en/sport-road-bikes/14207-btwin-triban-500.htmlCan anyone point me in the direction of pictures of the T500? Thanks!

I think it's all part of the fun - I'm going to delete my quote out your post in case it's wrong.

Twice - threads get very confusing if people rewrote a lot. The 'reply' button is the way to go in normal conversations.

Oh, by the way, the link you've shown is to the T500, which is a continuation of the T5a, at least I think it is because it doesn't have blue hoods but admittedly, it does have BTwin brakes, not Sora so who knows what's going on - will this ever end !

It is identical to the T5a then! I am confident they are showing the T5a and labelling it the T500.
