I'm not sure on this one, I don't like the rear brake position. The thing that gets me most is the graphics. Understated matt black which I don't like, bit then paragraphs of descriptive text on the inside of the forks, under the top tube and chain stays, why?

I like the stealth style personally, you just need some nice posh clothing to look the part sat on top, the bike sits as a neutral foil to the rider - that's fine by me - the Donan track bikes we're on are all black and the nice lady I was riding with last week in the Paul Smith pink Giro top looked the part on that set up ! Can do without the 'electric shifter ready', brake and other dialogue though - perhaps that's just there for the test bike? If it's on top you can likely peal it off, if it's under the lacquer like the 'Carbon Forks' note on the T3 then ahhhh!!!

...and being really picky, those in-line cable adjusters on the test bike look like the T3 ones - don't like them.

Looks like bladed spokes on the stock wheels?

I wonder what they've done about wheels, if they've improved the wheels then they'll be really flying.

I really wanted to like the Alur, but I'm afraid it's just cheap and ugly looking. All those graphics make it look like a cheap imported Japanese sports car..........

Moving around the forum on day 1, so might not have found a thread that summarises. But, am I right in thinking:
500SE - The new T3 insomuch as it offers exceptional value
500 - The new T5a, but worth waiting for as Sora all around is well worth an extra £20.

I think the prices need to be defined by Decca before you conclude.
Doubt there's going to be only £20 difference - happy to be corrected if this is known already of course (you sure you don't work for the marketing dept?).

Wish I was as I wouldn't have to buy one then! I'd keep trying them all !! I'm getting confused with all of this. T5 White is £399.99, T5 Black is £429.99 (on Decathlon.co.uk) and T500 is £429.99 (on BTWIN.com). I've read in one of the threads on here that the T500SE is reported as £370. All I know is I prefer the look of the T5/T500 all in black than with the blue hoods on the T500SE. I don't know enough about components to know whether the difference between 500SE and 500 is justified.

Welcome to the world of bike geekiness - answers to your post on a postcard please everyone. I'll say my clichéd answer - when we're down to this level of scrutiny it's kind of subjective - define if £60 pounds is a lot of money to someone in the context of health fitness, lifestyle etc.! What is your commitment to this ... and is the engine and ECU up to the challenge (it will be - it's the other things that get in the way that stop you) ?

I can answer that!
The engine isn't, but the European Chiropractor's Union have reliably informed me that they stand ready to assist at £35 per 1/2 hour session!

So buy the the bike that you consider has the better spec' for your purposes - until we actually see these things, it's still kind of subjective ... and even when they do arrive, the only real test is back to back reliability and longevity testing (nearly impossible to actually achieve in real world scenarios) ... so go with your instinct IMO.
For what it's worth, IMO, it's highly unlikely that the cheaper bike will be better for the long term committed rider but the differences are negligible, if you're only going to ride on hey days and holidays, then we're wasting time discussing the fineries of the decision IMHO.

Actually, I've reconsidered, you're not suitable ... for 'precious china' like your good self, best buy an electric powered cruiser ... Claims Direct need not ring the TOC concerning our advice ! That is all.

I think I've made my mind up what I want to do.
I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything and thought I'd try to contribute at the same time.

All good fun, I like seeing the path of the decision making process you're going through - it's about commitment as much as anything else. I think you fit the profile of an owner already and are rapidly becoming part of the Zeitgeist on here; you know enough to set sail yourself, we're just a sounding board ... that's what this place is all about IMHO, at least I hope it is! If that leads to buying a Decca bike then fine, if not then ce sera sera ...
