I think PV was talking in the early stages where we all started wondering why such similarly named bikes ... no doubt where this confusion germinated ... I was clear on spec's in my own head but not names. Z was being obtuse and ironic (perhaps? or he may have just got confused like the rest of us), he was having a joke with his carbon forks quip! You'll have to excuse us, it's like deja vu and we went through all this with the T3a 12 months ago. To try and be clear, this is what I believe the order is: 2012 - Red T3, White T5 2013 - White T3a, Black T5a, Black T7, Facet 2014 - T5(00)SE, T500, Alur, Mach, Ultrachas, please confirm and I'll either amend or simply leave as is, then lock this thread, as it's not easy to follow - we'll start a new one based on the confirmed info. Yes that's about it, the T5 white is between the T500 and Alur in spec but not in price, but won't be around for long. I'm inclined to agree with ksjs about the organisational bollocks, computer systems have long been a weak point. In the past we've had new models with a barely discernable paint difference selling at a different price to the old models next to them (often happens with clothing). Now we have the old models being renamed on the system - last week I looked for stock of a size of mountain bike and it was no longer there - it was under the new name though we still only have the old models

Big old system at Deca though, presumably it's dealing with entire range and not just bike kit?

Yes, lots on there with old models, new models, spares etc and so many departments, If someone asks where 'training shoes' are you don't know where to start (neither do they I suppose, that's why they're asking )

OK, back to basics: any good pictures of the T500 anywhere, any detailed spec for it, how definite is mid-April and is it the same as the T5a bar perhaps brake calipers?

We have always been aiming to keep it basic! With the SE it's going to be the same Microshift as on the T3a, the pics I've seen look like the same Ounce cranks that the T3Red and the T3aWhite have, also on the pics it looks like the same carbon forks as the original T3Red, they're certainly not the steel ones anyway - trying to talk yourselves into it being like a T5a (now T500) ain't gonna happen! As said before it's Sora v Ounce/MicroShift. I'm bored now, just bought a 10 Speed (double) Tiagra Groupset - I'm no longer going to talk to anyone riding on a triple !

Compact, standard double is too flatlander for around here, unless I just plough up and down the vale, which is limiting and so last year now . I monitored my gearing on the 32kmh average I did the other night, I feel comfortable on the 50 front 1 down from max at back for most of the very slightly undulating flats, only really push the 11 on uber smooth flat sections and it is churning a bit, plus slight declines and roll outs off hills; I can make up for this with some work on getting the leg speed / cadence up anyway. I can always get a different 11-25 cassette if it bugs me. 52/12 = 4.333 52/11 = 4.727 50/12 = 4.167 50/11 = 4.545

My questions to Decathlon and their answers:
Q: Can you clarify if the T500 is different in anyway to the black T5? (I know the T500SE is different) Also, when will the T500 arrive in stores?
A: Hi, the Triban 500 is an update of the Triban 5, and will have Sora brakes rather than the B'TWIN brakes fitted to the Triban 5. We currently expect the T500 to arrive in store from mid-April.
Q: Many thanks. Are there any other difference between the two or is it just the callipers? When the T500 comes out will the T5 be discounted?
A: Hi, no other than the brakes the two bikes are the same. We are not expecting to have any remaining stock of the T5 by the time the T500 is released and there are currently no plans to discount the price.

That wasn't the issue - this forum always helps others, you're taking a long while to get with the sine wave . Have you bought one yet?
