They haven't really, put simply, the T5SE 8 speed (corrected) is Microshift, the T5a continues as the T500 (corrected) and has 9 speed Sora, the 'T5 White' is the old model, not to be confused with the T3a which is also white but has Microshift and steel forks.

Now I am more confused! I thought the T500 was better than the T500 SE i.e. it did not have microshift? When you say the T5a continues do you mean just that or in the guise of the T500 or T500SE? Thanks!

I think I'm confused, I'm getting the continued T5a confused with the T500SE (assuming the 5 stuck with the older model and the 500 with the newer but lower spec model), if it's (the new model 5a) called the T500 then that's a nightmare if the other becomes the T5SE - you know more than you let on !

The T5a becomes the T500 (Sora 9), the T5se is a UK only substitute for the T3 Red (8 speed Microshift) The T5 white is the old model, not available in 57cm

...you know more than you let on ! I wish! It sounds like you think the T5a will continue?

I thought one of the pictures of the T500 had Sora brakes rather than btwin. I don't know what other differences there are. I also don't know whether the black T5 will be discounted when T500 comes out - That might influence my choice too!

I think it's the same bike isn't it? That's the T5a (2013) and the T500 (2014). Are people faffing about shades of grey here?

...and the T500SE is Microshift with coloured hoods (this time blue not red) a bit like the current T3a with 8 gears, Ounce cranks but with carbon forks like the Red T3, hence making it a great starter bike but not quite at the same mark of the T500 / T5a which is Sora clad, the same upgrade that many of the T3 Red owners did at bargain basement prices due to the Merlin deal ... or am I dreaming all this stuff up?

From Decathlon:
Hi, the Triban 500 is an update of the Triban 5, and will have Sora brakes rather than the B'TWIN brakes fitted to the Triban 5. We currently expect the T500 to arrive in store from mid-April.

So on the strength of two pics of brake callipers, you'd then wait a couple of months on the grounds of getting a potential Sora rear calliper? The stem (?), the cranks will be Sora, the rear mech will be Sora, the front mech will be Sora, the bars most likely the same, the frame most likely the same, the wheels most likely the same, the shifters will be Sora, the pedals(?), the bar tape(?), the saddle(?), the cables(?). You could ride a 1000 kms waiting .

road.cc/content/news/97203-decathlon-unveils-2014-btwin-road-rangeis this another btwin/decathlon misinformation/lack of cohesive information situation? crap journalism? isnt there pernies report from the launch day to refer to on here? fwiw im running btwin callipers and they perform as well as the rubber thats bolted to them, ok so go up to ultegra and you may start to perceive a better performing unit but sora or btwin? id hardly expect much difference, and its the brake blocks that really do the work anyway
