Agreed, whenever anyone posts though someone always moans about spoilers... Was happy to see Jungels win and not the traditional Valverde finish! Think there are ways to post within the first few hours of a race without saying who won. After 24 hours (so that we don't spoil for our Antipodean friend(s)) its fair game methinks. The problem with that, that we have seen evidenced here, is that nobody bothers. In previous years, we almost had a running commentary going on during some races. Mostly I go on reddit on r/peloton these days.

When I have backed Chavez before he has disappointed. The same goes for Thibaut Pinot, who appears to have the form going into the Giro. Aru is similar to Pinot, insomuch as over a long race, they have too many bad days where their challenge disappears. Froome hasn't looked good this year. Will his asthma be under control and will he be ready for the Giro? Hard to bet against him. If not, I'd ove to see Wout Poels being let off the leash.

My heart and head both say... Froomeit is the safe option, but I always feel that The Giro can throw an unexpected dimention.

Aru has not really performed since his Vuelta success. But with the route, not too much TT the partnership of Chavez and Yates could be a factor. Tibaut has showed his hand at the Giro Trentino. The climbing puts Lopez high on my list, and we can't rule out the champion too. Froome has always the capacity to win a G/Tour but The Giro the one that I feel throws something different into the mix.

I had 1, 2 & 3 in my fantasy team. Quite happy with that!

another great stage for young Mr Yates! Indeed. Mr Froome doesn't seem to be as strong and dominant this year. Why is that?

maybe he is just getting old in the same manner as Miguel Indurain. His run up to the Giro was not as slick as everyone had thought. He had a reasonable Giro Trentino with a 4th place finish. But was it enough? take in the case he faces with the over the limit tests he produced at the Vuelta Espania and the crash in practice for stage 1 and it doesn't bode well. Having said that a Grand Tour is a long race and with a good performance in the TT, he could be in with a shout of the Maglia Rosa. Today he looked jaded though. I think the possible suspension his weighing heavy on his shoulders, plus maybe a changing of the guard. I do hope that Yates can get a G/Tour victory or at least a podium, love watching him climb, very fluid. 25 Years old, a prospect that is for sure, just hope he lives up to his promise.

another great stage for young Mr Yates! Indeed. Mr Froome doesn't seem to be as strong and dominant this year. Why is that? He has had a couple of unfortunate moments on the deck which must have made a difference. It's also been said that he is in for the long game, bearing in mind he has the Tour pencilled in as well. He's not came into the race 100% that's for sure and more than likely that's as planned. Another observation the other teams aren't allowing Sky to dominate as they usually do. Maybe that will play into the Sky team's favour as the days unfold. Yates is in the best form of his life according to what has been said by the commentators and he does look amazing and also in his reading the race, like the rest of the riders he'll have good info from the team car as well.

Wonder if the 'appearance fee' is dependent on completing the race?

Call me a cynic but I wouldnβt bet against team Sky either deciding (or even agreeing) to take a back seat at the giro in return for an easier ride on the Frome investigation.
If they dominated the Giro it would ramp up the pressure on the authorities, let alone the concept of them retrospectively taking the title off Frome.
Far easier if theyβre not a dominant team. Just me?!
