I did a 10 mile TT on Watopia, and I surprised myself by doing a 20 minute power PB: www.strava.com/activities/515273207/overview#10 miles in 23:15 which pleased me a lot, 24 minutes was the target, and achieved fairly comfortably.

Hope it's not going to look like this on Ditchling RobP ! Methinks they're trying to get Rocket to spend more time on his turbo.

Just wow. Didn't really try hard, just steady state as I wasn't sure how long it would last and wanted to enjoy the view and take the shots. www.strava.com/activities/521395930Next weekend I'll climb the other side.

Looks like my ride over Standedge Cutting to Marsden - just easier image searching that, I certainly see similarities... I do envy you northerners with your proper hills... Chilterns are steep, but rarely long (the Pishill being the clear exception - longest continual climb on a British road, but that's barely up for most of it). That said, your easier is back to your inner bias against indoor riding (And I did say I wasn't trying, was meant to be a rest day in my schedule - fortunately I didn't feel bad at all, so whent a zone higher and had a little sprint to get over 90kph on the way down). I'd far rather be outside too, but I can't afford a house large enough to have a road inside, let alone a mountain, I have no intention of leaving my kids (aged 4 and 6) unattended for an hour while I get my riding in. Zwift gives me a sociable and (when I want it) structured training option. Trainer road does that structure thing without the social... I like the social, I often do recovery rides on the thing and it suits nicely as I can chat as I ride. In essence, I'm disappointed you don't see the benefit of a trainer to making real life faster for people without all the time we'd like.

I dont think I've ever said I don't see the benefit of a trainer. I've got one and use it when required if you check my training log. With a trainer too many people slack off and fool themselves into thinking they have done a hard ride. You will see some of my 1 hour trainer sessions have a higher average heart rate than my outdoor rides because I have the means to measure what I do and the motivation to see it through. You can't just stop on a real hill and walk away as you still have to get home and when a headwind presents there is no means to push some buttons and make it disappear to lower the resistance. Those of us that are serious use a trainer properly, like you, and the rest play the games for the glory

I did my first ever group ride on Zwift last night, the G-Man Group Ride (claimed as a 2-3W/kg ride) there were about 20 of us - 5 laps of the Watopia flat loop (through the ocean). As most group rides in real life seem, the first ~80% was largely pretty sensible (I averaged 183 W - 2.9 W/kg) we often split up a little on the 2 real climbs, but slowed to regather. Then there a was ramping of the pace and I was accidentally off the front in a group of 5, I thought we'd just stick together and do the last lap a bit quicker, but within a mile of the start, 3 of them had logged off and it was just me and a German fellow, with well over a minute lead on the pack behind, so we pressed on. It turned into a race when he attacked me going through the tunnel, I attacked on the ramp out, and he followed, then on the twisty bit, I just slowly ramped my power up until he couldn't stick with the pace and held at ~250W (~4W/kg) to the end of the lap, German chap about 40s back and several minutes ahead of the pack. I waited for the German to give him a ride on and went up the steep side of the mountain to end it.
