Fed up with the rain here. Don't like riding in the rain. Really think we've had enough this year now, a bit more than a week of dry weather would be nice! You are not lone on that point. Ridden in everything so its not a case of been a sometimeish cyclist but hate getting wet!!! Will take the car the moment it's going to rain and I am in the house.

Remember me? well much sympathy needed here please. I do still come by, but it is difficult at the moment, with no concentration and intermittant broadband...
In otherwords, yep, I'm still off my bike and have not been able to get out since 1st May when I was only able to manage 11 miles even that day. Knew something was wrong (11 miles was to college and back via the shortest route) then but thought I should be able to manage my Spanish lesson at college.
Since then I have spent 3 weeks on antibiotics for a deep lung infection which spread to my other lung as well whilst on the antibiotics and 3 weeks on painkillers. Been back and forth between doctors & hospital so many times I have lost count - and too ill to actually take myself so my husband had to cancel lots of work and stay close to home for 4 weeks. Regretfully it is ooking like this is another of those "my body has decided that it is not going to play episodes". I have had one before 6-7 years ago. That cost me 19kg in weight and took 6 months to recover from (and left me diagnosed with 3 major medical conditions I did not want to know about).
Hopefully this time it won't be that bad, but it has already cost me 6kg in weight and all I do is sleep despite a very hefty dose of steriods (40mg prednisilone since 1st May - I'm steriod dependant when ill or in emergencies with me having adrenal suppression from my asthma meds). Now waiting for an urgent consultants appoint for my asthma - July 29th is apparently urgent for someone who can't manage 2 hours between asthma attacks!
So no cycling, no exercise, lots of rest, sleep and no leaving the house much either.
Oh and Rule 5 - does not apply. Dr's orders - we can't risk me having either a major asthma attack or an Addisonian crisis - both can kill me and one of those already has done twice since I was born!

Take it easy SNSSO, just get well - keep visiting though; no real pressure here, we quote Rule #5 but it's kinda tongue in cheek, not many of us actually fulfil it to the required level ... Triban owners have special dispensation ... the Velominati are mainly children and we'll see how they do when time rolls on !

Chin up SNSSO. I have a lifelong illness and I understand your frustration. I'm sure they'll figure it out and once your strength returns you'll be up and at 'em

Get well soon. Glad you liked the Bluebells Zeb thank you for them. This is the 3rd British Spring in a row I have managed to miss for one reason or another... 1st was off cycling around the world - probably a valid excuse... 2nd was recovering from the rather nasty dog bite that terminated our world tour 3rd - well this... and I love the british native bluebells, so thank you! they were much appreciated even if it took me a while to catch up. Chin up SNSSO. I have a lifelong illness and I understand your frustration. I'm sure they'll figure it out and once your strength returns you'll be up and at 'em we know what is wrong - a couple of life long illnesses. unfortuantly they are not responding to treatment... I should be bouncing off walls and setting QOM's left right and centre with the amount of steriods (40mg prednisilone since 1st May) in my system at the moment, but I can barely stay awake and my body certainly has not recognised that it is on steriods. On the bright side of things a recent MRI has shown my brain tumour has actually shrunk as a result of quitting my job and going off to cycle around the world so no op needed! one less thing to worry about currently! just have to sort the asthma (level 4 asthmatic out of 5 possible levels GP can't prescribe anything else, has to be repiratory specialist now) and my addison's (hummm don't like that one)... and hope I am not diabetic as well - which is back on the cards again... still what fun would life be without one or two more challenges! Am hoping that I may just manage to get back on the bike before the end of the month, but we will see. Currently something as mundane as hoovering a very small room, or just going out to the Dr's leaves me totally exhausted and sleeping for the rest of the day.

hiya, Did six months of prednisilone. It lowers your immune system ( but I guess you may know that)so you don't shrug stuff off quite so easy. How's the appetite? I couldn't go past a chip shop without eating it.
The fatigue is a bugger as well isn't it? Can't do anything, takes two hours to work up the energy to boil a kettle. Specially if you been as active as you have.Must annoy the pants off you. Read some of your blog. Splendid stuff, huge achievements. Massive respect to you
Bloody lifelong illnesses, they keep coming at you. Just rest up and concentrate on trying to get back into balance. The road can wait a little while.

Hi no appetite whatsoever... steriods have never had that affect on me for some reason. I always loose weight on them, I think because I can be "normal" when I am on them. been on and off them now for 7 years I think, normally averages out at 1 week in 4 before we went off on tour, but since coming home I had been a lot better and managed an entire 8 months without them! that is a record for me, but this year has been bad big time. The cycle tour was a 'do it whilst we can' thing hence only 5 months between decision and doing it. but if the tumour does not need removing anytime soon, we may just be able to save up and get out again before anything else happens. It is quite surprising what you can manage when you have nothing else to do all day except enjoy yourself exploring new areas of the world and cycling and yes I had off days whilst we were out there, but we know how to handle them... it is just the long periods like now that are the pain. trying hard to rest up, but I guess you know for someone who lives outdoors normally, it is really hard doing nothing and not being able to get out, just stay in bed all day. and it is sunny and warm and really nice out here today... can't even hang my hammock anywhere - don't have anywhere at this rental place to hang it outside!

Really, really sympathise. Had to miss the last two summers through illness. Also couldn't eat fresh fruit veg or salad because of illness. Felt like someone off the jeremy kyle show. Do it while you can is a great attitude which is why I took up riding again. Currently in remission and trying to take advantage of the fact.
I was down your neck of the woods the other day on the T3- Dunham massey, Tatton park, High legh. Nearly fell off applying my new brakes too eagerly on a downhill near Rostherne mere. Note to self; Clarks pads will stop you.
It looks like it's going to get a bit rainy soon, so that should be it for a few weeks. Hopefully you'll be feeling brighter when the sun comes back and you can get out for a spin again
