Nice.
How does the size compare to the Count 14?
Looking forward to hearing your comments on the direction feature. That's what I'm really interested in.

Me too. Interested to see how sensitive the GPS is and how well the direction works? It doesn't come with speed or cadence sensor does it? Are you using your count14+ one?

ok so heres the first bit.... set up
Set up is a pig, the intitial set up of the device is fine and very easy but getting the info from the device to the pc is a nightmare, IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH GEONAUTE SUPPLIED WITH YOUR COUNT 14+ and the data i have over the last 8 weeks, 1100miles of it, is non transferrable unless you do it manually - fat chance.
Its taken roughly 2 hours of finding, installing and running the correct software, thank the lord for google translate, i did a quick half kilometer round the block and the info supplied seemed ok but it says i climbed 21m and descended 18m over the course of 0.5km, which is bum gravy of course however the map did display that 5m had been climbed and descended in equal proportions which is correct
current attitude is that if i took it back tomorrow i would feel ive lost much, atm its no better than the count 14 whose data and trasfer set up is perfect, why they couldnt have cross compatibility, given the same manuf, ill never know
it has the facility for indoor rides so as mummy is at work and im looking after 'sir wants alot' im going to give it an hour and see what happens
there are incentives to improve with virtual medals being awarded for milestones so that might be worth an investigate
more to follow after the INRIDE in a couple of hours or so.

once you figure out how to transfer the data you are halfway there, btwin and geonaute websites are notoriuos IMO and it took a couple of disconnect and reconnect before it picked up the unit, the data transfers to a holding position and prompts you to send it to your online account, i hope no one can see that as it obv gives my approx location, picked up the speed cadence and hrm no bother - easiest part of the set up actually i think its designed for children, its full of lovely pictures and is crap in comparison to the count14 information - cant figure why they have two different formats for the same info, the c14s looks far more pro, adult at the least! so ive done an indoor, nothing special, going to make a route up for tomorrows run and see if we can easily export it found a barometer on it too ? surely the gps would be sufficient as all the barometer does is convert the air pressure into altitude id have thought ive stuck my user profile on the unit, but every time you switch on it seems you have to go thru the whole initial set up again, that is bullshit not giving up on it but lets put it this way, ive got my receipt folded and ready - not most impressed at the moment

Appearance wise, the count14 does look more 'pro' than this unit IMO. Looking at the pictures on Dec.'s website, the grey bevel and screws make it look a bit funny.
Hopefully you'll sort out the niggles in time for a full ride and make up your mind. I think maybe you are used to the count14+ and as with moi, pleased with it does and does well.

Hmm, not sounding good...
I'm not too fussed about the uploading data thing as I only use my count14 as a 'dashboard' device for cadence, speed etc. I use Runtastic/Strava on the phone for actual logging (which, bar a glitch on my ride in to work this morning has been remarkable consistent with the data on the count) .
If the route creation and directions work well I may be tempted though as I don't know the country roads round here so well and not getting lost would be a massive bonus.

OK so the user friendly software isn't so user friendly Programmed in a 70km route, took an hour and a half, the online backup is shoddy and lacking information You get your hrm cadence and speed on one graph but no identifiers numerically, having to run both computers ATM, hopefully geonaute sort it because it could be a nice piece of kit if the backup software wasn't so cartoony, litmus test tomorrow, if it let's me down its going back, if its OK might hold out and see if the online functions improve, and they bloody well should, cyclists like stats not encouragement to earn the right to eat a burger, you'll know what I mean if you get one but you'd be daft to atm

How does the route get onto the sat count? Just plug into the pc and sync? Also can you import gpx files?

I've tried a few apps (google maps / viewranger )and havent been impressed by them.. in the end I purchased a Mio cyclo 300 and I am very impressed with it. When I was looking to purchase I read a few reviews about weak GPS signal in built up areaβs but I donβt know how true this is as I used it to get from Buckingham palace to Manchester and never lost signal once it was perfect very clear screen and instructions its ready to go out of the box. my friend has the Garmin 800 he did the ride with me and we both used the same route file and mine was always 1st to give the direction plus he had to buy an extra map to get local roads. Another great feature is the surprise me button where you can either enter a time or distance and it will plan a route for you and get you back home in the time or set distance which is great if you get bored of doing the same routes around your area. Sounds very good, its clear you are happy with it. Heard good things about it too, wasn't sure if it was just a clone of the Garmin 800.
