Why are the cycling media thinking that Kiryenka is in with a chance again this year?? He 'only' won it last year because he started early and then it rained before the bighitters started. Tom or Tony to win imo (and why isn't Froome in the ITT anyway) Froome ended his season after the Vuelta. Kirienka always does relatively well at the world champs, throughout the year he normally has to save himself for team duties so isn't in top form for the TTs.

Are you sure there was rain... Kiri started not much before the big hitters.
Martin had the non-functioning position Dumoulin was suffering from the Vuelta
The rest of the podium was a little surprising too.
But Kiri's not been able to try.

Just noticed that Villumsen did not enter to defend her title. Now that one I do remember. ETA ankle injury apparently.

Did noboby follow the men's road race yesterday? It was a fascinating tactical battle with the cream rising to the top in the end. As always I was rooting for Cav. He might have won if things had panned out slightly differently but there no denying Sagan's quality. The amazing thing was that Eurosport covered it live from start to finish, all six hours of it without a single commercial break and non stop commentary from Carlton Kirby, Matt Stephens and Declan Quigley. I cannot say I watched it all as I was supposed to be decorating a bedroom but I certainly heard it all. Apparently they are going to cover every stage of next year's TdF in full.

BBC also had full live coverage of both the men's and women's road races on the red button and then two hours of highlights on BBC2 on each afternoon. Not bad! We had a big family weekend so I didn't catch much other than the closing kms of the women's race and the odd bit of the men's, but not the finish.

After all the moaning, and Doha produced a great race. Brilliant in fact.
I watched the whole thing on the BBC, though not all live.

I watched it all on the red button. Very interesting race and the heat obviously did plenty of damage. Sagan is pure class though and I was rooting for him to win. Side note: David Millar could have a side job recording audio books for insomniacs. I nodded off 3 times, the 1st time I'd only been out of bed for forty minutes!

Great few days spent in Glasgow at Track World Cup. Safe to say the future of British Cycling on the track looks bright. 5 golds and only one of them to an Olympian and that was in a new event to UCI races so the rest to the young rising talent Even more impressive Archibald won the Madison with Mannon Lloyd with two broken bones in her wrist!
