Mr Kirby's got his work cut out this afternoon to find any racing to report. I am loving it.

Total contrast today. An epic stage in every respect. Really chuffed to see Gesink get the stage win, and my was it kicking off behind him! OBE pulling off a huge team plan. Bring on some more tomorrow!

Missed the start but I think the decisive factor was Movistar having Moreno in the break yesterday forcing Sky to work all day.

Awesome race today. Gutted for froome but team sky were caught out massively and quintana and contador made the most of it.

Good pics mate, I'm on Selsley Hill out of Dursley on Thursday and JunoRad and I are doing ticket only charity laps of the finishing loop in Bristol on the Downs on Saturday, booked on for an hour looping the finish couple of KMs, then we'll watch the 6 lap circuit race, think we're on between the TT and the group race.

On the local radio news today (Radio Bristol every half hour so far since 6am) talking about the Tour of Britain; they've gone to town with good coverage and they're drumming up support, talking to school kids and teachers, interviewing tour organisers (the ToB CEO no less), who mentioned how being cheered on really helps the riders, and then invited some local kids onto the podium Saturday etc - all good! So we're out with a club ride to watch the KOM about 3/4s round the route today - see if you can spot us (1.30pm ish)!

on the subject of the 'other' race, kudos to Froome for hanging on in there. Alas, I feel that the I.T.T stage is too short and technical for him to make up enough time on Nairo.

Why are the cycling media thinking that Kiryenka is in with a chance again this year??
He 'only' won it last year because he started early and then it rained before the bighitters started.
Tom or Tony to win imo (and why isn't Froome in the ITT anyway)
