O/T..... Anyone been watching the BBC Four Olympic coverage? Dan Walker is doing a great job with it. I love his sense of humour. #Copacabinmen twitter.com/mrdanwalker

Well impressed with the Rio mountain bike race. Nicely rounds off two great weeks.

Well impressed with the Rio mountain bike race. Nicely rounds off two great weeks. Agreed, wonderful looking course. My legs were tired just watching. Interesting to see the mix of hardtails and full-sus and the frame of wheel sizes. Didn't work out for Sagan, going great guns until he punctured early on and no way back.

Has everyone been too fixated on the Olympics to realise La Vuelta has started??

Has everyone been too fixated on the Olympics to realise La Vuelta has started?? Not at all another grand excuse for lazing on the couch, getting inspired to get out and hit the tarmac and for not getting on with the paper and painting of the back hall

Looking at the speed V cadence on the current climb it appears a lot of the peloton are on compact cranks

Has everyone been too fixated on the Olympics to realise La Vuelta has started?? Definately not. I have a fantasy team in Velogames. I was doing well after the second day as I selected Meersman as my sprinter but things are not looking so good now as I backed Kruijswijk and some of his domestiques to carry the GC. I have also got Chaves and Quintana but the latter's status as team leader may have changed now. I didn't think Froome would have much left after the Tour and the Olympics but he rode a good stage yesterday.

Looked like a nice part of the world to visit where they were riding yesterday but don't fancy that 30% climb. Vuelta is always good to watch on TV like the Giro as it is less predictable than the Tour.

Watching La Vuelta usually makes me think it would be too dry and hot for my liking. Il Giro too cold and Le Tour seems just right.

Not looking too good for my GC man but my sprinters were first and second today.

There a a few Brits competing including Tao Geoghan-Hart who was third but now dropped to 7th. He is joining Sky next season as a neo-pro. John Dibben featured in some of the earlier sprints.

Now that really was a cracker at the Vuelta today. Edge of the seat stuff for the last half hour. David Millar's post stage analysis seemed spot on. What happens if Quintana dictates the timing of final attack?
