Good review arny I like the details you have listed. I noticed no mention of cadence/speed and HRT sensors. It's using ANT+ right? so no way its going to work with Smart Bluetooth/4.0 sensors - correct?
Wonder if anyone will cover the Windows software client for us?

It wasn't a very positive review lowey. As a matter of fact he wasn't recommending it at all. I am left uncertain what to do, but getting the money together would take some time so I will have that time to think about it. Damming situation for Garmin though: no Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity poor smartphone interface no connection to social sites like Strava (no great loss) its bigger than the 500 and cost more! For me it was a toss up between the 500 & 510. What swung it for me was the smartphone connectivity and the extra features on the 510 and I was willing to pay the extra for it. The idea of my wife being able to track my ride and know I where I was was comforting for her (even if it stalls sometimes when you lose mobile signal). Size wasn't really important, it's still way smaller than my iPhone + waterproof case that I was using previously. And the way you can customise the screens with whatever data you want to see is also great compared to what was available on the Strava app that I was previously using. I'm also thinking of getting an indoor trainer eventually and being about to use the device with the sensors and set up training routines was also appealing. The guy doing the review is able to compare it to all the other devices that are available, something which most of us (if not all) are unable to do. It didn't put me off buying the 510 and I'm still happy I did . It does everything I need it to and more (and the touch screen works with gloves on which my iPhone (in the waterproof case) didn't ) You have made a number of valid points there. A lot to think on.

- Compatibility. BIG ISSUE for me here as I've got a mac and it says mac and pc compatible. Okay, its all good that i can sync it up to my mac, but it only treats it as a memory stick. I don't know what its like on windows but when i come to download "MyGeonaute". Its only got Windows application software... no Mac!. So quite miffed on that. I think theonly decent thing your gunna get out of this is the routing and navigation if you've got a windows computer and want the GPS, anything else... I'd go garmin or SatCount+ if able to get the Mac compatible app for MYGeonaute. Ta for the review. This compatibility thing is what would give me hassles, I use Linux. Since the Mac recognises it as USB Storage the Linux box will as well which is good, so where I might run into trouble is importing or exporting routes. Does it handle gpx files or is it only using something proprietary? I'm not interested in extra sensors.
