I was thinking about this thread today, as I'd noticed little activity on the forum recently. A year on and I'm still spouting rubbish. Maybe its time to stop? Most (but thankfully not all) of the posters in this thread don't post anymore. Have we said it all? Is there a lull because of the time of year? Has everyone moved on? Autumn is really busy for me with the start to the new academic year. I'm a bit of a junkie when it comes to this forum and like to keep up to date with all the posts, so to be honest I'm a little relieved that it's been a bit quieter of late but I'm not planning on going anywhere fast (well other than on my BTwin bikes that is). I've hugely enjoyed the chance to get some BROC rides in at different points during this year and to meet a number of you good folk in person. Just hope we can get a couple more rides in before the end of the year. Cheddar on the 24th anyone....

It's been my experience, that the life's blood of any forum, club or fellowship is the new comer. Long time members who get to know each other over time is a wonderful experience it becomes the heart of any forum.
The topics on the b-twin/Decathlon range of bikes and all the techno bits and bobs that go hand in hand with cycling have been extensively covered, thoroughly and well. I have learned and appreciated a great deal of the information freely offered here.
For the back room folks who help keep the sight clean and free from harm I solute them they are champions. It is a testament to their diligence that this sight has survived thus far. On line has turned into a feeding ground for harvesting and confrontation not so with this one. In my eye that must be cherished, we who sail/have sailed/or will sail on this craft are fortunate indeed.
This forum has encouraged, informed, stimulated me, above all of that it gave me hope when at the start of this year it was thought I wouldn't walk far less cycle again. Hope is the one thing that helps overcome fear...priceless!
As has already been shared, it is indeed a strange time of year for us cyclists, the turbo's are being brought into play here and their and everywhere. Maybe it's the sense of confinement that hangs heavy over us? {commuters excluded;-)}There will be a good few days i'm sure that conditions will dictate that we can hit the tar-mac and that glorious feeling will lighten our pedals!!!
Had better stop now, feel a novel coming on....
All me best wishes to everyone, everywhere stay safe!

I would say it is partly time of year and partly natural progression. Nearly everything has already been covered. When new people come on asking questions which have been covered many times before I say to myself 'use the search function ffs!'. If they do this then there is nothing to discuss. The longer a forum runs and establishes a core of members the harder it is to attract newcomers as it can appear a closed shop through no fault of anybody. It seems to be the way things go with smaller forums.

I'd agree with above . This forum was mainly built on technical advice on how to fix/improve/upgrade etc. However all that advice is now in place so less need to comment. However I still check in daily and love my t3 more than ever! Really looking forward to cheddar ride with southern guys

How long will you stay? Not seen this thread before, even if a won the lottery and spent 10 grand on a Dogma and other bikes (B'twin Carbon Road bike) I'll still be on here and keep the Triban 3a, I'll just be getting advice on the best mud guards to put on it for winter.

I'm not a prolific poster but usually pop in most days. I got my 500SE just over a year ago and absolutely love it.
I find the forum very friendly with plenty of advice, tips etc. What is interesting is looking at how many members there are but how few actually post anything. The majority of the posts are from just a few. Some people have signed up and then never been back! Perhaps deciding cycling's not for them? Some were fairly prolific then nothing - do they still ride? Perhaps, but maybe not a B'Twin. I suppose when you first get the bike you are finding things out about it and cycling and after a while there is less to know and to talk about. Who knows?

my T3a does everything I need from a road bike - cant see me changing for some time Fantastic answer and one I agree with whole heartedly and i still feel the same now - more than a year on !! The 520/540 are great bikes (noticeably more expensive though ) but with the T3a there is more commonality of drivetrain parts with my other, older bikes. I do envy the slightly more relaxed cycling position and the wider clearances for things like mudguards/wider tyres etc though. If my T3a was to 'vanish' I'd be straight round to Decca for a replacement Triban of some kind ...

Bought my red T3 2 years ago this month and joined the forum in January 2013. Bike purchase funded by me promising not to buy any whisky for 3 years (calculated I spent about Β£100 a year on it, so I've still got a year to go at least before considering an N+1. The only real upgrades I've made are R501 wheels and a PG810 11-28 cassette. It's nice to dream about a light weight carbon bike but in reality the T3 is all I need and it will remain in the family forever. Great forum, shame I'm out in the sticks a bit and most meets are beyond a reasonable travelling distance to get to. If anyone's in the North Cornwall area (preferably with their bike!) give us a shout. ps. I won't say no if anyone offers to buy me a bottle! Annual update - Over 6200 miles on the red T3 and decided to upgrade rather than get N+1. The Red Rocket now boasts a full Tiagra compact groupset with 12-30 cassette - got to last me another 3 years at least! Still enjoy logging on and checking peoples rides and other activities.

I hope that my signature says it all below? Still buy B-Twin products when I can, and would certainly consider another bike in the future.................so, hopefully you will allow me to stay?

I don't have any brand loyalty, I have a giant full suss, a radon hard tail, and merida cyclocross bike and a Btwin road bike! So I guess it all depends on how decathlon can keep me as a customer.
That said I can't see me changing my Alur anytime soon, the only thing I will do is upgrade components.
HOWEVER. I hate the new colourschemes, they would put me right of buying.

I changed bikes but still have the t3a on a turbo trainer. I made the mistake of getting the wrong frame size as it was my first road bike and even though I've altered the stem etc it still wasn't quite right. I will still come on here though as its a good forum with friendly members

During my mid to late teens I was really into cycling (miss spent yoof sort of thing) and was out nearly every night after school going into Derbyshire. I joined a club and even went in for a 50 mile time trial and did others and a road race (finished 3rd in my first one and Malcolm Elliott presented me with the medal). Due to getting out in my twenties on the ale with the lads and out most weekends till the early hours and starting full time jobs the cycling died off. I bought my T3a in July 2014 after been inspired seeing the Tour de France go up Holme Moss and the finish been in Sheffield where I live. When I first got the T3a I was going out in tracksuit bottoms and wearing trainers doing rides of about 15 miles (I had not ridden a bike since '97). Now after getting back into cycling and things had moved on a lot in past 20 years I have upgraded it and have all the proper clothing. It even inspired me to get my old Dave Marsh (Reynolds 531c) road bike out which had not ridden since 1997 (and that was a one off on a holiday) and got that back to ride able condition. The Triban has given me an immensely rewarding hobby and this forum has been good for advice, tips and general chat. Since July 2014 I have done a 60 miler that included going up Holme Moss and have also done other monster climbs like Winnats. So it has been inspiration to me and met all the challengers.

Not riding as much as I'd like too, work etc...yawn..... I'm training my 10year old son for his first 100k ride next year.
All Btwin here. If I was to upgrade again I would be brand loyal again! Still no plans to sell the legendary T3.
