Feeling a little maudlin this morning as I sit here alone (family all out) prior to popping out for a ride. Checked through the forum and read bits about people buying new, non-B'Twin bikes. It got me thinking about longevity of posters and posting on the forum. I feel like I have been here years, but its only really been a few months. I've learned a lot and have now got a new interest in life - As well as a new wardrobe of what I'd previously have thought were ill fitting clothes! I've got to recognise a number of people (and their bikes) from their posts - I've also had the pleasure of meeting a couple. But how long will it last? I'm quite happy with what I've got and can't see me changing for a good few years - Unless something untoward happens. Am I in the minority here? Are your Tribans just a passing phase on a journey elsewhere? Or will you all be around this time next year or the year after? So, a quick message to you all....

I don't use my red t3 as often as I would like but it does all I need of a road bike. The main changes I made were to tiagra shifters, sora crankset and conti GP4000 tyres.
I have no intention of changing from the T3 and will be popping in for a few years yet.

I've only had the Triban 300 for about two months or so. Can't really see me getting another road bike for a while, and if I did, would probably be another B-Twin. Really enjoy it so far, and intend to start using it for my commute. Only complaint so far is the engine is rubbish.....

Your not alone with your thinking Paulinblack, this very morning when i was out the same thoughts were running around in my head.
I've had my T3 for round a year or so and have been harbouring the idea of getting something else. It was still going to be from the Triban stable, the Alur 700 of the Mach 700. However following the delays etc., my focus did start to look around in other directions.
However; For the last few days (for various reasons) i've taken a couple of my other bikes out, Carrera Gryphon and Dawes Galaxy. Both have been good friends and companions for many miles. They have stayed indoors and been maintained well. Each was still a delight to be out on the tarmac. I couldn't help but notice though just how much weight they had recently put on, man handling them out side and on the hills it was very evident.
This morning i took the T3 out it it felt completely alive i didn't flout on gossamer wings but it felt frisky on the flat and seemed to sail effortlessly up the inclines.
Sure got me thinking, i would be nice to move up a notch or two but those thoughts for now have been put to bed. Yes my gratitude was to the fore once again for what's in my life my Triban T3 and now for what's not, the +1. I'm sure by the end of our winter when i've been out on the cart horses those feeling will not have changed. Time will tell...
With regards to the group. It has been my experience that most online groups like almost all things in life does have a sell by date. Although not all who view the post respond that's not to say they don't benefit from what is freely shared.

Yeah, I've upgraded, but I intend the T3 to be my winter bike (In fact I've bought a few bits to make it handle winter better) and just because I have a new bike doesn't mean I won't stay here. The BTwin gave me my love for cycling.

I can't see myself getting a 'fancier' bike for a while, unless I win the lottery.
One of these best things about the T3 is superb vfm, and it does perfectly well for me and what I need out of a bike.

I've had my t3a for 18 months and, although I did have in and get a carbon framed bike after a small windfall, it is still my most used bike I have.
All four of my bikes get ridden regularly but none of them are as reassuring as the t3a. I have no intention of replacing it...n+1 :-)

For me the T3 is more bike than I'll ever need for the road , I have the Apex as well & the Kona for offroad

Repeating an earlier post "maybe we should become the Triban Enthusiasts Club?" (To allow for all the ex-owners!) It's a shame Deca have had availability issues with bikes that Members have wanted to upgrade to. Having a loyal customer base & letting it ebb away is a bit sad......
The Club/Forum is evolving, is it getting like other forums? More look what I've bought and less of the joy of cycling. It's not all about the bike! At my level, it's the engine (us!), and that can be a bit dull!!

There are a couple of threads about people buying new non-Triban or non-B'Twin bikes, but there are much longer threads about things like @davefy7 and his epic adventure in Iceland and lots of interesting tidbits like KiwiBeard and some of his amazing rides. Also, @damo knocking off some monster rides with some monster hills - which aint bad for someone built more like Kittel rather than Quintana!

Will still be here I reckon. Triban has got me into cycling and the btwin stable seems to cover all the bases at a great price. Importantly I think the bikes look just as good as the more expensive brands and psychologically I think that's very important - don't want to be feeling inferior unnecessarily. There is a great pleasure of ownership I'm sure with a cool Pinarello or similar and I would love to have one just to look at everyday . I can't say I won't get something different some time and totally respect anybody who does cos, after all, all road bikes are cool. For the foreseeable though it's BTwin for me.

I guess it might be inevitable that some people might move on terms of bikes, but I hope that doesn't mean that people feel obliged to move off the forum.
I'm thinking that most of those buying 'flashier' bikes will have the n+1 idea anyway, but regardless this is a great place for just general bike chat. My feeling is that everyone hereabouts seems to have something useful to say, and I can't think of a friendlier place on t'internet. I hope that as long as it stays that way most will stick around, even if they've moved on a bit from the brand.
Personally speaking, I won't be changing my T3 anytime soon. It does exactly what I need, and in truth it's capabilities still far exceed my abilities. And in any case, the wife wouldn't let me spend money on another bike!
I've owned three things that I think are design classics because they stand the test of time; a Toyota Hilux, a Land Rover Defender, and a red T3. I've always regretted having to sell the first two - I can't see that I'll ever sell the last one.

Although most of my road rides are now on the spesh I still have the t3 and will be using her as a winter trainer. I'll stay in the forum for advice and to keep up to date.
