Although I love my Alur, I cant help thinking that had the Mach ( or wahtever its called) been reduced to £850 as it is now, I might have paid the extra £100 for the carbon frame.... Im not bitter just thinking aloud.

Last time I checked it was £850 ish until December...back to the drawing board.

Some of you might have read on the Who's getting out there thread that I'll be taking mine back to the shop. I'd been getting a strange noise at the back but had thought it was down to cable tension issues, though no matter how much I tinkered I could never get it to go away. It only happens on one sprocket and when I had the bike up on the stand for washing etc. tonight I took a close look and noticed that at one point on the chain the side plate catches on the tooth before dropping into place. It has started to wear the tooth on the inside. Has anyone come across this problem before? I'm not sure if it's a chain or sprocket problem.

Only happens on one sprocket so that rules the chain out. Save yourself the grief and use some needle nose pliers to straighten the offending tooth.

Is it the same noise from that day we did the ton. Sure, bending the sprocket back will probably sort it but I'd be annoyed too on a brand new bike.

Yep, the same noise. I must see if it's the same link in the chain or every rotation of the sprocket. If it's the chain at least it'll be easier fixed.

I'm with Rocket , if there's no way of knowing how it happened and if it's just a tooth bent, then just bend it back.

Yesterday I rid 50 miles on the Alur 700. What a great ride! For the rear direct mount break: It stayed very clean, most of the dirt was catched by the seat stay. The 'normal' break of my mate catched a lot more of dirt and had to be cleaned after the ride.

Saw my first Alur in the flesh on Friday at Decathlon Frejus. Have to say the photos don't do it justice and looked nicer than the Mach 700 and 720 it was next too. Shame it wasn't available earlier in the year but hopefully they might reduce the price or change to the 5800 11 speed.
