My word that's a good deal! Wonder if the new Ribble carbon bikes have anything to do with the discount. If you're deliberately not looking for a carbon frame then the Alur is still a very good deal if and when you can get one. The only near comparison I could find was the Giant Defy 1 on end of range discount from Rutland Cycles. Just noticed the other two Mach builds (with Campy groupos) are no longer on the Deca website. Yesterday the 720 was missing and now the 740 has gone. Wonder if they have reached the end of the 2014 line, before the Alur even got off the blocks. lets hope they go on sale as a poor seller. 50% off would be nice £750 is a funny price point. to dear to make it the first road bike and close enough to the £900 were full carbon is doable. honestly IMHO they would of been better going for a £599 price point and down specing the bike slightly.

That's a different perspective from mine as I see the very allure of the Alur (sorry) being the high spec right from the off on a high quality alloy frame. I can't really ever see me jumping on a carbon-frame bike while on the wrong side of 14 stone (which probably means never then) so I do think it's good to see a strong spec on an alloy bike for such a competitive price. I do see your argument when you like at the current bTwin range as there is a gap between the price point of the T500s and the Alur that could be filled by a different spec (perhaps a T600 along the lines of the old T7), but then you could easily achieve that by purchasing a 500 or better still perhaps a 500SE, and then upgrading groupset and wheels.

During my successful hunt for my Alur , lakeside decathlon informed me that they were expecting more alur stock late September. Just a heads up to any of you on the hunt for one it might be worth contacting them.

Edit No my marbles are still there! The price hasn't changed, it's a cock up on the website - if you click on a model it comes up at the right price

Yeah. I thought I was losing the plot. Obviously spend too much time looking at the Deca website!

I wonder if it will make it out to the stores. ...and they're gone... in medium at least according to the website. I think we need a suitable commentary from David Attenborough in hushed and pensive tones on the nesting habits of the lesser spotted Alur! "Even in their favoured habitat, amidst the other cycles, camping gear and sporting equipment of their natural home, the Alur is a painfully shy creature, and this, combined with their famously erratic rate of reproduction, makes spotting one a surprisingly evocative yet bittersweet experience. Rumours of their presence in any locality tend to be grossly exaggerated and have a tendency toward disappointment on the part of Alur fanciers and contented Tibanistas alike."

Perhaps we should start a poll: Which will we see first, a Scottish panda or an Alur?

AFAIK Alur are 6/7 weeks out. From what I was told from Deca H/O If that's the case then I really feel for the staff in the Deca stores as several of us have been told that a batch would be out late September, unless that referred to the size S and trickle of size Ms that just came through recently.

For your reference My Alur is a small frame , and I am 5,5 ish so this feels perfect for me. For you taller ones who are btwin mental and want one of these you could have your legs cut down it might be quicker than waiting for the large frames

I was interested but will probably wait until spring now and see what is available. Maybe I will just go for 105 groupset and carbon fork for the T3A.
