Sizing of Triban1. What is your overall height? 185cm 2. What is your inside leg length? (If unsure, use your trouser length size as that will give the next closest size indicator) Actual inseam - 89cm (does this sound right?) Type of Triban1. What is your budget your willing to spend? £500 2. What is your accessories budget and was that part of your original budget? £100 - on top of bikebudget 3. What equipment, safety and accessories do you already own? BottleCage/Bottle - Need a new helmet/ saddle bag and pump 4. how far/long are you planning to ride? Up to 50km on average. Normally 25-30km 5. are you planning on using it for competitions, a fitness trainer or a commuter? Fitness/Odd Duathlon (I'm a runner at heart) 6. If competitions, how many are you planning on competing in annually? 2-3 Duathlons (Max 30-40km ride) ResultsOnce you've answered all questions, i will try and answer as soon as possible giving you your best recommendation for bike size and bike type. I'll always recommend a few other alternatives and accessories to go for to help you in anyway possible. I'm currently thinking about the new 500 when it is released, which based on conversation i had with Decathlon yesterday is mid may. Thanks in advance for help. Hi Blind, With connection your choice you will wanna look at 500 as you mentioned but hte new 500 is going to be a £20 difference purely down to the fact it will have sora brake calipers. so IMO, it would be easier to go for the £430 whilst its still available as £20 towards your accessories. the helmet i always help pick for customers is the 700 race helmet as it has got a very comfortable fit and in Mecca Wednesbury, its only £20 so bargain really. but choice is yours. (not sure on other stores. can someone please confirm this for general basis) but upgrades to help you with your racing, I think majority of people on this forum will agree that swapping the wheels will help drastically. now i know you are limited but forking that few extra bob will make the ride more enjoyable. either look at some of the bargain alert page (thumb up for anybody who can link me to this) or the aksiums from Mecca. Size wise, you are looking about 60cm frame, attach a slightly smaller neck stem so you can add on clip on bars to help with your duathlon racing. hope this helps.

Budget is flexible (within reason), i'll just plump out for the better equipment as standard for £20. I've bought the shoes/pedals for £68 today so just need the pump/saddle bag/helmet.
Thanks for size advice, thought i'd be a 60 but worth checking!
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to bike equipment, why would i need smaller neck stem for cip on bars? I think the other upgrades will come once i've got some use out of the bike!

Hi Dan
Buying a T3A for commuting. Have pretty much everything except shoes and pedals. Most likely going SPD.
Just looking for advice on frame size please.
Height 5' 11.5" Inside leg 33" (no shoes, trouser leg 32")
I'm between 57 and 60, leaning towards 57.
Your input would be appreciated.
Cheers
Damo

Cheers Damo Hi Damo, I'm not Dan, and I'm no expert, but I have been through the same Dilema! I'm a similar size to you, and I can cope with a 57 or a 60! If only one size is available, get it. If both sizes are available get the 57! With adjustments to the seat post, seat position and stem, either can work for you! The smaller frame will be marginally lighter, and as they are the same price, a potential "free" weight saving is one possible reason to choose the 57? But as a "chunky" rider, the difference in overall weight (on the road) is more theoretical, than noticeable!! Fatmanona5a (Bought 5a (60), later a 7 (57) came into my life from eBay! Either size works for me)

Cheers Fatmanona5a.
Yeah as i said, leaning towards the 57, probably easier to adjust for a good fit.
Tried both sizes. 60 had the seat nearly all the way forward and felt a little stretched.
57 felt alot smaller than the vintage steel frame which I was riding until recently. But i guess that's just the way modern frames are.
Thanks again
Damo

Hi Damo, Initially my seat was forward on the 60, but a shorter stem helped me keep the saddle in a more neutral position! As I said, either could work for you. It could just come down to looks? Do you prefer the look of a smaller frame with more exposed seatpost, or a slightly larger frame with slightly less seat post exposed? If you decide to opt for a carbon seatpost (for comfort), the smaller frame could be a good choice! Either choice, is a good choice! Just go and get one, you know it makes sense!!!!!

I'm not sure which size of Triban 300 I should choose, 60 or 63. I'm 6'4" tall (193cm). My leg length is 37" (jeans length 36). I usually have 20-30 miles trips twice a week. Which size should I choose?
Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm looking for I think a Triban for my son. He's 11 and around 155cm currently. Obviously will grow. I think the red Triban 3 is the best but it's out of stock except in 45, which I think is too small.
Any thoughts which way to go?

Triban 3a white is a bargain and great bike or for a bit extra the 500se is the way to go
The Triban 3 red is now disappearing into the mists of legend, there are some new ones still available in very small sizes. You'd need to ring individual decathlon stores as the website stock information is notoriously inaccurate.

Seems like Decathlon have a stock problem.
Went to Reading yesterday, tried the Triban 500SE in 54, seemed like the right size, but no stock online (no room in the car). Nothing else in 54 either...

It's a birthday present for my son, I think it would look a bit tatty if I rode it home.

Ok in that case you should be able to get it in virtually any car with the wheels off. Only takes a few minutes and I'm sure they would show you how it is done in store if you don't know how.

Yeah you're probably right, went there with 4 of us in the car yesterday and just thought we could order online for convenient home delivery. But if I drive back again, could do. Starts defeating the point though of cheap bike when you have to spend 2 hours driving....
