I went out for a quick ride with No.1 son on Friday evening. We were well into our normal stride when we saw this lad walking along the road with his bike, this was fairly well in the middle of nowhere.
He'd got a flat rear tyre but no means of fixing it. So after giving him a bit of a lecture about having the right stuff with him, Son and I fixed it between us. I see from the total time we were stopped that it took us 13 minutes and this was for a patch*, getting everything in and out of my saddle bag and pleasantries. (*I wasn't about to give him my only tube I was carrying.)
The irony was that he had track pump in a bag on his back! We found this quite a laugh really, and it turned out he had borrowed the pump from a mate and this was his journey back from work.
We left feeling quite pleased with ourselves and he was really chuffed that we had stopped. He even offered us money which we refused, telling him that he should "pass the favour on" and that stopping to help was the norm.

Heartwarming. Good to know that the cycling "brethren" are willing to help others out in times of need. Reminds me of my motor cycling days! Much kudos captslog & son!!!
