Just wondering how many we have and where you do your cycling? Looking for ideas for day trips and where's good for a cycle, scenic routes etc.

Hi Steve. I'm in Edinburgh. Am pretty new to this road cycling lark so just getting to grips with where's good to ride and where's not so good, but am happy to travel if a central Scotland meet were ever to be organised, for example?

You been anywhere for a cycle other than where you stay? Like the look of loch lomond but i've never scoped it out for a cycle.

You'll never get up to standard unless you are pushed by your fellow riders, having said that I'm not putting myself up as the next contador so you may well embarrass me! Loch Lomond , done the east side, OK if you have medical assistance on hand, drivers a the biggest worry though, but its a good hard ride nonetheless I fancy getting down into Ayrshire though, some nice celery down that way

I reckon a ride around the forth would be good for all, not too hilly, plenty of miles, maybe south queensferry over to five, along to Kincardine and back to Sth Q via boness/linlithgow Prob about 60 Miles total if that Cmon jock tribanites let's do it!

I'm certainly up for a ride around the Forth, but no way I'd manage 60 miles. I did 36.5 miles at the weekend there and that's the longest one I've done so far. Something around the 40 mile mark should be achievable for most, I'd have thought???

With 4 or 5 of us 60 isn't as hard as you think, how about a ride in lord roseburys estate and the surroundings (south queensferry) could prob eek out 20 miles or so in there with a bit of imagination, i've stuck a bespoke Scottish rides thread in the members area
