Replaced the bottom bracket as it was stiff to turn and creaking. Non-drive side was rusted and the drive side was loose in the frame. The 500SE had a Sora triple so already had HollowTech but it was an older version. Fortunately I had a nice BB-R60 version in stock. Silky smooth and silent now.
The Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels I got from Karen were next up. I had to replace all 4 wheel bearings and the 2 freehub bearings due to rusting from water ingress. They really have nothing but the bearing seals to rely on. A very poor design. As always my box of spares already had enough new bearings of the correct size so it was a quick and simple job. I reckon The Terminator will have a fair few extra watts moving it forward now.

I've had a setback with the 6800 crank I bought on eBay. Basically it never turned up. Paid for on 12 Dec and by 27 no sign and it was still showing as not posted with no tracking info. Messaged the seller and he didn't reply for 3 days saying he had been away visiting family (not allowed) then claimed it had been posted and he had been to the post office and they said delays due to Covid-19 issues with staff. Seller said he did not pay for tracked delivery despite the p&p cost. Asked me to wait a few more days to see if it turned up. I waited until today's post and still no sign so messaged the seller to ask for a refund. It either wasn't posted or the seller lied he is in the UK as some do. No reply so logged a complaint with eBay and they refunded me within an hour. I left the seller negative feedback, the first in 497 of his transactions. But Miss, the dog ate my homework I put as a comment.
I've now treated my Aeroad to a brand new 175mm 52/36 Ultegra R8000 crankset from Wiggle and the borrowed 6800 crankset can remain on The Terminator.

Interesting what you say about the wheel bearings - up to now all my wheels have been Shimano cup & cone type, but looking at new wheels and leaning toward Fulcrums, particularly as I got the impression the bearings were less hassle than having to keep on top of cup & cone. However if longevity isn't great, then not sure it would be worth the extra cost.
Which of the two types do you prefer? And does your view differ for summer vs winter wheels?

It's a double edged sword but currently I prefer wheels with cartridge bearings. I've had Shimano wheels with cup and cone where the cups wore out yet the braking surfaces still had plenty life in them. You can't replace Shimano cup and cone, just the balls, so the wheels were scrap. I like to get maximum use out of my wheels so being able to change cartridge bearings ensures the wheels are only scrap when the braking surfaces are worn out. The Fulcrums are really easy to do and the bearings are cheap.
My Aeroad came with Mavic wheels having cartridge bearings. 4 years and 16,000 miles in mainly good weather and they have never needed changing. Water is the enemy and my T500 takes the brunt of the bad weather.
