The 'next' Destroyer The 'next generation' destroyer (Next generation of bike or cyclists out there) The 'winter' destroyer The 'guarded' destroyer (it has mud guards) The 'electric' destroyer (it must be powered to go that fast? And it will have Di2) The 'slick' destroyer (looks like an oil slick) The 'dirty' destroyer The 'phoenix' destroyer The 'rebuilt' destroyer The 'insurance' destroyer The 'claim' destroyer (Insurance claim and claims by other slow mere mortals!) The 'fame' destroyer (We all know about it and it beats all the famous cyclists perhaps?) 'Al the destroyer' (Some people name their bikes. And its aluminium framed!)
That's all my creative juices gone for today.

It's an upgrade so how about Destroyer to Annihilator. πperson or thing that entirely destroys a place, a group, an enemy, etc. : one that annihilates something or someone This would subsequently interrupt the relationship between man and nature, and change the original role of man upon the Earth from the guardian of nature to the biggest annihilator of nature.π

Thanks people. That's quite a few suggestions to mull over while I build it up.
Today I stripped my Aeroad and put the shiny new R8000 bits on it along with new cables and bar tape. Nothing else arrived today so I'm still waiting on cranks, chainrings and bar tape.

How about.... The Terminator? It's a Btwin systems model T500 and an upgrade from the previous model and you just knew it would be back π
A used set of silver 5800 53/39 chainrings arrived and I've fitted them to some black 175mm 5800 cranks to be used on my TT bike indoors. This will stop me wearing out the expensive 6800 ones. Strangely the black on silver goes really well with the T500SE paint scheme...
I'm still waiting for the cranks and chainrings destined for the T500 along with some Fizik blue bar tape although I've re-used some black bar tape from the handlebar swap for now so I could cable up the brakes and derailleurs. A bit more tinkering and fiddling and it should be ready to do battle on the Strava Festive 500.
Pictures are on their way. Honest.

Still waiting on parts so I robbed the 52/36 crankset off my Aeroad so I could install the derailleurs and size a chain. All cabled up so I popped it on my trainer to index the gears and set the front derailleur. Still find 6800 stuff easier than R8000 but that's another story.
I've not been able to use 6800 brake calipers as they simply don't have enough clearance for a 25mm tyre and a mudguard at the front. Fortunately I had a 5800 front caliper in stock which does the job but I'm waiting on a new 5800 rear caliper.
So after having a short indoor ride to test the gears and make sure I was happy with the position of the handlebars and the shifters on them I decided to weigh it. 9.2Kg with full mudguards but no pedals and 25mm tyres. Given that the Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels are no lightweights at 1,720g I'm very happy with my build.
Too dark to take some decent pictures now.

As purchased in standard specification. Project codename "The Grey Destroyer" Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to "The Terminator" Here is the clever bit for fitting a decent mudguard to the rear along with a 25mm tyre. As you know, the 25mm tyre is not a problem on its own but it does not leave enough space under the rear brake bridge to fit a mudguard. My solution is to make my mudguard mounts go over the rear brake and over the bridge. I made some cardboard templates then cut the real things out of some stainless steel plate I had. Probably not the prettiest solution but it certainly works. Still no sign of my blue bar tape, 5800 rear brake or 6800 cranks and chainrings so it may get its first outing using parts borrowed from my Aeroad. Ramp test today so I can wait until 24th to start the Strava Festive 500.
