***Disclaimer - I know the author of this software. He is an IT pro who is also a keen road cyclist that lives near to me.*** Guys, Walking a fine line here doing a favour for a mate and distancing myself from any connection to it in any way whatsoever! My Strava buddy Dave has written some software that can be used with a basic TT and gives lots of data to analyse. If you fancy something else to spin away to then check out his website and see what you think. There is a free trial of 4 hours use, lots of routes and lots of data using ANT+ sensors. He charges 35euros if you wanted to buy it. www.wattzap.comSo that's my favour done - I have no opinion on the program but I know he would welcome any feedback if anybody tries it out - constructive criticism especially welcome ! stay warm

I'll give it a try at some point on a wet day but it'll have to go some to challenge ipBike, still got over a thousand miles of free time left there. I have to say that turbo work is not something I relish or want to throw money at, more a necessary evil. It's useful when you're trying to maintain or progress through winter but have a busy life. The GCN vids n basic data allows a perfectly fine workout IMO. Trainer Road is appealing but you have to subscribe, I haven't felt the need to yet. The 4hr trial is fine but the price is also circa 3 or 4 months subscription to Trainer Road, that'd get you through until spring - not trying to be negative, just my initial reaction. There's so many app's out there, unfortunately for your pal, no-one likes paying for them.

And his mate who developed the app obviously doesn't like paying either as he has developed his commercial app using open source technologies

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I'm perfectly happy spinning away to youtube vids on my ipad a couple of times a week. Just putting it out there if anyone is interested and looking for stuff like that Not sure about the techy argument Derek? Some people get a bike shop to fix a puncture for em and some get a garage to change the cars oil - despite having bought all the bits. I think you pay for the expertise at putting the bits together by someone who knows what they are doing? Free market at work really cheers

Yep, good of you to let people know about it. So people know, this thread was cleared with me before posting - no vested interests for OP or me, other than G knows the guy through cycling. Constructive criticism is where we're at here - whether you spend £20 for a license is up to the individual, no great shakes.

The fellow's unlikely to be retiring on £20 licences.

This here looks very interesting, race your mates on the trainer zwift.comHey Zwifters, We all know what’s been occupying your mind: When is Zwift going to be released? When are you going to invite me to the beta? Well, we couldn’t be more excited to talk about the answers! We’ve made some significant progress in development, which in turn means that we’re making progress on inviting more people to the beta. We’ve already hit some important milestones which we want to share. When we launched the beta a little under two months ago, we set a goal of one thousand beta users. Since then, we’ve not only hit (and exceeded) that goal, but achieved some pretty cool numbers, too! We currently have cyclists from over 25 countries. The longest ride clocked on Zwift was over 3 hours. 30% of Zwifters ride for about an hour. One rider has already racked up over 600 miles. A handful of Zwifters completed a community organized “Thanksgiving metric century” (100km) challenge and a “Christmas metric century” challenge is in the works. These are all great achievements that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our existing beta testers. So, to all of you who’ve helped us get this far - thank you for being a part of the pack! It’s because of your help that we’ve identified and fixed numerous game bugs, computer crashes, and other hardware compatibility issues that will make the Zwift experience even better for all the other Zwifters who will follow in your footsteps. We salute you! We’re committed to inviting as many of you receiving this email as possible before we launch. That being said, we firmly believe that our success so far has come from our thorough, methodical approach. This is not a sprint. We’re in this for the long haul. Every tester with beta access has been chosen based on some very selective criteria, and we’ve limited the impact of some potentially game-breaking issues because of that. To date, we’ve focused on users with Windows PCs, select smart trainers and ANT+ power meters. We’re excited to invite people to start testing our Mac version later this winter and open up to users with classic trainers and ANT+ speed sensors. Yes, our own special version of virtual power is coming soon. We’ve just begun inviting the first users to test drive our iOS mobile app and Android is only weeks away. And the website is shaping up with the first modest iteration just around the corner. We’ve come many miles but we’re far from backing off the pace yet. We really appreciate your patience as we navigate the twists and turns ahead. We remain super stoked by your support as we get ready to release the most innovative indoor training platform ever to hit the cycling world. Stay tuned, spread the word, and Ride on. Team Zwift

Interesting that one, not sure if it's a bit OTT though.

Interesting that one, not sure if it's a bit OTT though. It would help take the solitary boredom out of it if your mates were on at the same time

Bit of a necro post, but I just go invited to the beta for zwift. will report back, but it'll be installing all night on my crappy net connection (annoying I can't just download it at work with 100MG/s+ download speeds and bring it home on a DVD).

Cool - i signed up but never got an invite. I think to start with if you didn't have a compatible trainer then they didn't invite you, they're no rolling out to other trainers.
