Cheers, I was just changing the first tube when 2 other riders stopped. Asked if OK, and changed the front one for me whilst I finished the back! Good lads or what!

Update on Team Lidl.....my first sportive yesterday.
The Etape Du Sussex from Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Did 87 miles with just under 6,000 ft of climbing. I completed in a time of 5hrs 35min, which was 20 minutes over the gold standard.
I would have certainly made the gold and probably got in under five hours if it wasn't for a puncture which came at just the wrong time.
My plan was to blitz the early hills and then hang on with a fast group for the flatter parts of the later ride. This suits me as I'm a climber rather than a speed merchant. I started early and the plan was going well. I had the main climbs out of the way and with a good moving group when a rider came up from behind, saw his mate and then swung in front of me to take station alongside him. While I was avoiding him I ran through a pothole at speed, carried on for a minute thankful that I got away with it and then realised I hadn't as the back tyre was flat as a pancake.
Oh well, I thought.....a quick repair will get me back in some groups I'd passed earlier. Nice plan, but then I broke the bloody valve of the first tube I put in meaning I had to do it all again. Meanwhile, I lost the quicker groups as they sailed past.
In the end, I spent much of the remaining 50 odd miles alone....managed a concistent pace but I'm sure I could have done better.
Definitley happy with the time though considering the 25 to 30 mph winds which were an all day feature.
