There is a few of them about I find. I got a snigger at my T3 couple of weekends ago. I don't know what they are thinking? More right to the road because they are on 1K bike I presume. My first sportive was the Stevenage CTC End of Summer ride. Was my first ever at 65 miles. Had never done that length in a day, actually no where near it. It took all my energy to get to the finish on cold, dark day in October. They do lots of other great rides all year round if anyone is local. I'm thinking of doing the London to Brighton BHF ride next month. Might be fun as it starts at night, around 11pm.

I also had a snigger or two from a rather snobbish get on a sleek carbon effort on our local charity ride last week. Him resplendent in Assos gear, me in Team Lidl.
We even went through the charade of lifting each others bikes and him faking a two hand lift for the Triban.
Early on in the ride it was fairly slow and he ended up cycling alongside me telling me about his cycling achievements.
Several hours into this (it felt like it anyway) the field had opened up and we'd got a bit more speed on. We then came to a hill (read gentle to moderate slope) and he started to get quieter. There were a couple of lads in front about a quarter of the way up so I'd stayed slow until we got past. Once past, I turned to carbon snob and said "thank god for that, we can open up now".
"Yes" he grimaced, "That's the annoying part of these charity rides".
Me slips to highest gear and leaves him panting in my wake not to be seen again.........
I look forward to more of the same on the Etape Du Sussex in two weeks time, my first PROPER sportive.

I wanted to do the Le Terrier (long route) on 2nd June but was working so I did it a month or so earlier. Great route on quiet roads. 104 miles and 11,600 ft ascent. It's a beast of a ride. le-terrier.co.uk/

I'm all for buying an expensive carbon, brand name bike, if you can afford it and if you'll make use of it. Buying a 3k bike for 10 mile ride once a week is a waste IMO. When you are at that level when you are doing serious miles, then you've 'earned' it. Anyways the VAST majority of cyclists are happy at the sight of new cyclists and me personally I get help from those more experienced and with better bikes. At the same time I try and be as encouraging to those just starting out. Lol @ Team Lidl

Was good I did the 64 miles in a riding time of 3hr 53 but spent half hour repairing a double puncture (front and back went in same pot hole 9 miles in!!!) so my chip time wasn't great and annoyingly the Evans website show me as DNF!!!!!! Bloody did! Really enjoyed it though, shame about the weather, stayed dry for first 30 odd miles then rain all the way in! My T3 did me proud!

The first few miles I could have done with my MTB, not the best roads. But the roads got better. Also enjoyed it My T3 was flying must be the red.

Gutted I didn't spot a fellow T3! Agreed roads v poor at start - they caused my double puncture on a large pothole I didn't see as in middle of a group. Roads did improve and I really managed to motor the last 10 miles or so - Strava below: app.strava.com/activities/60681209
