Hi,I purchased a t520 about a month ago to use as a winter / audax bike. I seem to be getting pins and needles in both hands after most rides, even short ones c20 miles. I've never had this before on any bikes, no issue on my summer bike or my old winter bike which was a t5. In terms of set up seems to be identical to the t5 and position on bike is very comfortable. I've tried btwin 900 gloves which are quite padded and others with less padding but not much difference. Any ideas? Thanks. Nick

It could be down to a number of things. But things to try include: - Changing gloves: This has never made any significant difference to me - Changing bar tape: I've heard others do this to decrease vibration. I haven't tried it. Presumably changing from 22mm to 25mm tyres might have the same effect, but I haven't noticed a difference on my 2 bikes. - Check your arm position. Are your elbows locked when you ride? If so then you may want to think about adjustments to your set up so you have a slight bend. If you are leaning forward with arms locked, then maybe a shorter stem perhaps? - Saddle position: If sloped down at the front you will be leaning on your hands. Moving the nose up helped me a lot. - Handlebar position: I raised mine slightly to give me elbow bend and stop me leaning forward so much - Move yourself! Adjust your hand position on the bars frequently
I still get pins and needles occasionally on long rides. Think its where I get tired and I tense my arms and slouch forward putting a lot of weight on my hands. Moving around on the bars, standing up, sitting up, bending my elbows all help to get rid.

A slight difference in the shape of the bars/hoods and the way you hold them could be putting pressure on a different part of your hands restricting blood flow. You could try altering the angle then position of the bars then move the levers on the bars and double wrap or put padding under the tape then new bars and even groupset for a different shape hood. It's a very individual thing like saddles, a slight change might make all the difference or you could have to try everything and the answer may not be what you expect eg lowering the bars slightly rather than thinking you must raise them.

Occasionally moving your hand position will help as well from hoods to top etc. I do that quite a bit and it seems to stop my numbness most times.

Is there any play in your headset bearings? Magnifies any road vibration.

I found myself nodding along with all that has been suggested, all good stuff. May I also suggest adding an extra layer of bar tape, cheap and perhaps worth try. It worked/works well for me.

I'll second that thought of extra bar tape. Double wrapped mine and its a nice chunky spongy handfull now making it really comfy.

never really had pin and needles in the hands, but I do get a pins and needles sensation on the tip of my nose. I don't know if anyone else gets this, my mates look at me with surprise, quite strange but the road vibe gets to my nose.

Update
Sort of resolved the issue. I normally wear an armband for my phone. Haven't used it last few rides and no pins and needles. Weird that doesn't affect my other bike...
