I almost wanted the Simon Bates 'our tunes' music running in the back ground to that post. Had to get my hankie out! Think we're all going to be having to fork out on a hat soon! WOW I remember "our tune" very well as i was working in a garage all those years back and always had the radio on,was it on at 11am ? and in the summer was the Radio 1 roadshow! those were the days

What is this 'run' thing you talk about? Were you being chased?

What is this 'run' thing you talk about? Were you being chased? I was... by 282 people. I was chasing 45. After the run I had the TT I was organising... bit of a nightmare, thunderstorm hit about 5 minutes after the first rider set off. Unfortunately, that lead to serious stress, and my marshals never reported anything bad. Apparently there was a slight, shallow, flash flood on course, between marshal spots - all went off OK, but I got soaked having to do various tasks. That seems to have left my shoulder rather sore. I tried swimming yesterday with the other half, couldn't do crawl at all, and the breast stroke I couldn't do more than 2 lengths at a time... still I got a bit in and its less painful today.

Been a bit ill this week. Not really sure what's wrong... probably just a rubbish virus. My breathing's rubbish, I'm a bit snuffly, but more importantly I've ached all over and always tired.
I played Badminton again last night, even that might have been overdoing it.

I'm sure your not alone in that respect, I too can hold my hand up to trying like a bear to get back fitness dropped through illness/injury, healing takes time unfortunately my patience always seems to be out of whack. I wish you well.

I wish you well. Thanks man, I'm just keen to get back. I'm putting on weight now too and notice it. I'm always hungry, but just not doing the exercise to burn it all off. And wile Steph's a good influence to get me doing more generally, the intensity to really rip through the calories isn't there with long walks or gentle swimming.

Been a while since I posted, busy with work etc.
And I feel crap a lot. Feel like I've not progressed in a month. I still can't wear a backpack and I still can't run 5km without pain. And getting out on the bike is hard when it's not comfortable and I've not had anyone to ride with, and while it's painful, going any distance on my own isn't on the radar.

Sorry to hear that Rob, but as I'm sure people keep telling you these things take time. 22mins is still good for the parkrun, keep at the short rides and one day you'll realise 'actually that feels a lot better' rather than pushing for more and aggravating it. Can you get out for short gentle off road rides with your GF/kids to take the pressure off trying to push yourself too much?

I've done a few rides with the GF, but off road won't happen as the jarring would hurt - plus she rides my mtb... it's really a bit little for me, so ok for her, just.

Where I am the off road paths are better surfaced than a lot of the roads, also excuse for n+1

I still need n back before I can consider n+1. That still looks months away.

Sorry to hear the recovery seems to have hit a bit of a plateau Rob. Hang on in there! You've made incredible progress so far, so I'm sure things will move forward again.
