Mucho kudos must have been a horrific period of time but pleased you are back on the pedals hope all gets back to proper normal before too long. Chapeau I think it must have been super hard for my GF. We've known each other for 3 years, but only been a couple since mid Feb... though I think really it was starting to happen before (We've both said since we thought we were falling in love before either of us said anything... glad I manned up and did it). But at 3 months in, I was nearly killed, I spent a lot of time in extreme pain and there was nothing she could do. I also think she felt awkward dealing with my Mum, who she'd only met twice before - once before we were together... and now mum was basically always there. I'd hate to be in the reverse position. In other news... I've had a few days off... feeling a bit achey in the shoulder... I'll try again tomorrow if it dries up in the evening.

With dodgy weather and a shortage of time, I went for a run last night with the after work running group. www.strava.com/activities/1102674367I still can' really run as I'd like. I feel comfortable at a good pace, and then all of a sudden my rib hurts and I'm forced to walk... I guess its just as my breathing gets going. Still I have decent pace, just can't hold it.

If I get confirmed compensation, I'll spend more, otherwise its likely to end up a 720 AF.. though I'd have to try one, I'm worried by the reports of brake rub.

I put brake rub down to wheel flex, can't see how it can be the frame. The rear brake adjustment is a bit fiddly, you can't just centralise the caliper like a dual pivot and I think some owners are unaware how to adjust them properly. As I posted elswhere the new 940af has a traditional rear brake and I would expect the rest of the af's to follow in due course. If you're after something stiff and racey the 560cf is a cracker.

How is your brain? You said you were out cold for 2 minutes and confused. Did they give you cat scan & check for brain damage?
I ask because I came off my bike in April and was out for 2 minutes, had a small 4mm bleed on the brain and frontal lobe swelling. Not trying to one up here, but it was a struggle to get help to figure out what was wrong with me. Short term memory issues, concentration and issues with sesnory gating. All of these are common after a head injury or with post concussion syndrome (PCS). It takes ages for the brain to heal and there is often an increased risk of seizure. I'm not allowed to cycle or drive for 6 months even though I feel fully recovered. It took about 10 weeks to start feeling normal.
There is a LOT of ignorance around post concussion syndrome. If you are having any symptoms like that, go to your GP and tell them you want to see a neurologist. When your head was scanned at A&E they probably referred your cat scan to a neurologist so there should be notes.
Glad you're healing up.

I'll want 105 as a minimum, TBH I'm not a fan of it, for a range of reasons - I hope I get enough money to get a higher end one anyhow.

I had pretty bad concussion, but since I stopped taking the codeine, I've had no concentration or memory issues (other than when I'm in pain... but then I put it down to that). I'm sure I was scanned, I have a dodgy memory of the day of the accident (which was after work) and none of about 30 minutes... about 5 before to 25 after. But otherwise all seems well head wise. As I said, I'm one of the rare ones where at reasonable speed, with a vehicle, the helmet actually worked.

That's good to hear (regarding no brain injury). I suppose you can look at this as just a temporary set back :-)
Good luck with it all

Busy weekend with the kids. I did park run on Saturday with mini Gonzalez (she doesn't like this nickname) - though she was suffering, about 2.5km in her knees started to hurt and we had to walk about half of the rest... she's having a bit of a growth spurt so it's probably a case where because of the longer legs her techniques gone a bit off... she has suffered from that walking in the past. Then a busy day out... turns out I can just about lift them up now, but not a great idea, so limited that - fortunately my GF adores the little monsters, so she helps there.
Then Sunday went swimming... both girls are decent swimmers for there age... the 5yo swap her first full length of the pool... Katy was racing Steph back and forth for a while... she's a bit good at the back stroke. I found the swimming ok on the shoulder, but not sure I could do crawl or backstroke, breast stroke or just paddling about were ok. Then once the girls were back to their mum, Steph and I went for a little potter of a cycle... This to me was amazing... she'd said to me the day after my accident that she'd never cycle again... that she knew I'd not quit, but she was frightened... but she suggested it. She's not quick and riding my mountain bike (the road bikes are just far too big), but its nice to get out and pedal at the moment, and doing it with her will always be nice, she's no cyclist, but wants to get into what I want to do... she was talking about buying herself a hybrid (can't talk her down the road bike line). before the accident, maybe it's still on the cards?

I almost wanted the Simon Bates 'our tunes' music running in the back ground to that post. Had to get my hankie out! Think we're all going to be having to fork out on a hat soon!

That said, accident has rather put life in perspective. I hope it keeps going down the hat line... but I'm in no rush.

Last night I had a "unorthodox triathlon" - went for a post work 5 mile run with the running group ( www.strava.com/activities/1114092273), then straight to the gym for the wattbike ( www.strava.com/activities/1114234047) and finally an hour of doubles badminton. Shoulder was absolutely fine throughout. Legs... not so much... and they hurt like hell today. Still, I'm coming back. And due out on the bike tonight.
