Is there an easy way for me to get bulk rides into it from Strava including power data rather than the manual TCX download fudge which won't work for indoor rides? Failing that what about IpBike as the source since all my rides are still in my phone? I know how to do them individually but I'm looking for a way to bulk upload.

you can get strava to email you all your rides (as a zip if I remember correctly), and then import from that.

The problem with Strava's bulk export is they strip out the power data for some ridiculous reason, which is pretty much the main reason you'd want to import into Golden Cheetah.
I use my Garmin for all my rides, indoor and out, and keep a backup of all the .fit files on it. Came in handy for the initial GC import. Now syncing rides with GC is a bit of a pain as for some reason there's no ongoing sync between Garmin Connect / Strava and Golden Cheetah, you need to have access to the actual files to import. I've got a setup with Tapiriik which syncs garmin rides to dropbox, which then Golden Cheetah autoimports from as well as my zwift and trainerroad folders.
Golden Cheetah is great btw, now that I've got the hang of it I've cancelled my strava premium sub as GC tells me everything I need to know power-wise and more.

I've had to use the Save as function in IpBike to save TCX versions of my rides to a USB drive connected to my Galaxy S3 then configure GoldenCheetah to automatically upload from it when I plug it into my Linux box. My S3 has almost 1,000 rides saved on it and it is about 10% full. Which model Garmin can do that

Anybody point me at a decent guide to using GoldenCheetah to examine my performance other than the one from the makers? Idiots guide knocking about anywhere? I've done the basics like configuring my own parameters and those of my bike and imported a fair few rides to examine. Those graphs sure look nice on a big monitor

Good documentation is a bit lacking for GoldenCheetah. I've got comfortable with it by just digging in and googling anything I don't understand (things like CP, W' Bal) and generally find answers on forum posts. I did find this video useful: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo9uhwMdthQ
