Hi, if anyone owns a Alur,Ultra 700 or 720 in large or extra large I'd be interested to know their height & inside leg measurement please, and how they find the fit. Also if they've made any adjustments (new stem etc). I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 720 but still torn between the two sizes, and as it will be bought through the cycle to work scheme I'll only get 14 days to return / exchange so I want to get it right. Many thanks π

There are far too many dirty jokes here. My bike is only small, but it's what I do with it that counts.

Next time you're in store ask to speak to Phil the cycles manager, he has an XL (Alur) and will let you sit on it if you ask him nicely

Haha r0B1et!! I should of phrased it better!
Chas, is Phil at the Giltbrook store? If so I was talking to him & he says he has XL but he is 6'4". I'm just over 6'2" so he said the large would be ok for me but may need a longer stem. Wish I'd of known he had his bike there to compare (it's a 30 mile trip to the store for me)

TBH it may not have been when you saw him. If you can get over on Sunday we have a ride after work, staff and customers all welcome he'll certainly have his bike then.

Ah ok what time do you go?, where do you meet?
Definitely want to purchase the 720 AF but here's my dilemma -
I am 6'2.5" with a 35" inside leg, which puts me in the xl zone on the sizing chart for this bike. I also had a bike fit done and that put me on the xl size.
However I've been up to the store several times in the last week or two and spoke with various members of staff who have mainly advised me to go for the large. I had a ride up and down the aisles a few times on the large in store with the saddle at the correct height & it felt pretty good but you can't judge properly just by doing that & also there was no xl to try out to compare to. Also why I was there a chap was returning his large to swap for a medium as he said it was too big for him (he was 5'11") also the mechanic said 'they are big frames on these'.
I much prefer the look of the large to the xl though.
As I say it's going to be bought through the cycle to work scheme and have been told that exchanges must be done within 14 days & aren't that straightforward, so I'm wanting to get it right.

If you want comfort then buy the XL as you will have a smaller drop from saddle to bars and sort the reach out with a shorter stem if required.
If you want performance through aerodynamics and you can hold an aggressive riding position then buy the L as you will have a bigger drop from saddle to bars and sort the reach with a longer stem if required.
Only you will know which option is right for you. I'd get the L but then I'm not you.

Thanks Rocket, I'm thinking Large as well. I have a Triban 540 Flat bar for more upright comfortable rides when needed so this will be the speed machine!

In that case, definitely go smaller, as I said before, if it's an error you went to small its easy to make it work, its impossible to do much getting smaller.

I have an Alur. I'm 6'1 and a half. Inside leg 31". No stem changes. Good luck with your choice.
