I have been trying to buy a pair of jeans, but am being thwarted by the current fashion for skinny. I have a typical cycling physique of narrow waist and large thighs - nothing extreme, but not the normal unexercised populous of big belly and skinny legs. I've just been to Primark and Tesco, and none of their jeans fit. As a teenager of the 80s living in the Manchester area, I'd like a pair of loose fit. Where can I get some cheap? youtu.be/YyZp1nm5yco

Have you tried Matalan Eric? You or the wife would need a reward card (free to apply for online) to be able to shop there.
I've picked up my last few pairs from there and tend to buy multiple pairs when I find some that fit, which I also struggle with.

Marks and Spencer own brand, Blue Harbour. 30" waist with 33" leg. I cleared the shop out when I found stock.

I made the mistake of buying a pair of skinny Levis (should know better at my age). I can hardly breath when they are on and certainly can't bend down. As the saying goes, there's no fool like an old fool.

I have this issue in a big way as I'm naturally pretty tiny in the waist/hips anyhow. I've never found 28" (or 27") waist that can get near getting on my thighs... even looking like skinny fit. I thought I'd nailed it with some age 14 ones, but they were just a fraction too short.
There's so many cyclists, there must be a market for them here.

I believe Rapha do cyclist specific jeans at a very reasonable 150 quid a pair.

Kinda like a Roses pastiche.

Found a pair. From Next. After an extensive shop this am. (Bloody hate shopping) tried on a pair of loose fit in Next. Great quality, lovely material, good comfy fit £20. They only had in 32 waist, which was too big. Assistant was unable to order a pair of 30 inch for me but said I could order myself online. Just looked, and the smallest they make in loose fit is 32! FFS. The quest continues. Arrrrrgggghhhh.

I like skinny jeans, and they are the only ones that do a 32" waist that will actually fit over my thighs and calfs (due, I suspect, to the addition of some sneaky lycra-like stretchy substance into the denim...)

This is what gets me. I ain't skinny. I'm a normal healthy size. 5'10" 70kg. it is right in the middle of BMI chart. I am average. Yes, I got cyclist thighs, but I ain't Chris Hoy. I just want a pair of comfy everyday jeans that ain't skin tight so I can't sit down.

I usually get my workaday jeans from Sainsburys. The boot cut ones are quite roomy.

I think it's even worse for the ladies. I was out with my oldest daughter when she was shopping for clothes for her birthday a while ago while I was visiting her up at at Uni. Tried loads of shops and couldn't seem to find anything other than skinny cut anywhere. All that was left was the dreaded "mom cut" jeans and some of those came up like skinnies.
As she's her father's daughter she has the wrong genes in the leg department.
