Yep, pricey though. Inside the set budget.

True but at 7.2 kg ish, sacrificing the electrics and you can save Β£500 or not save it but get down to the 7 kg line. I think I'd drop the electrics as the last time I rode with someone on Di2 they couldn't change gear up front - you guessed it, battery out; I won't say who it was, except to say it they work for the company at the top here .

I've not used Di2 for long enough to really make a fair assessment (about 2km). But if I wanted to spend 2k, I'd be looking at Di2 as I believe the hype, a lot less faffing, as long as you remember to charge it up. That strikes me as the issues as many seem to forget... doubt they have that issue with their garmins etc.

I would be skipping Di2 until this SRAM wireless drops. Di2 might go down in price as a result. I've no interest in electronic personally but folk may as well get as much bang for their buck.

Di2 cost Pinot on the cobble stage the other day, not sure what the other teams were using but I know a lot prefer mechanical for the cobbles and Cotnador was using mechanical for the Giro. Not saying any of us are going over cobbles or riding grand tours but does show Di2 isn't absolutely necessary.

I know this wouldn't happen with a mechanical group but it's still human error.

From what I have read they were obliged to say battery failure to make it look like it was their fault and not Shimano's when in fact there was a problem with the connection to the battery not the charge. Seems impossible to me to believe a pro team would forget to charge the battery.

Royster. Canyon. Get yourself a mate on the continent - order in euros and save 4-500Β£ . Those fixed prices have failed to reflect the dropping euro against sterling...

There is a Fondriest tf3 1.2 in gloss black/fluro orange I have my eye on for my next bike - it looks fantastic in the shop window and I've been told that it rides great too. I'm not a fan of the matt finish on a lot of bikes around at the moment.

I am liking the Canyon bikes more and more, particularly the Endurace CF 7.0. It's a considerably better all round package than the Mach 720 but stock seems to be an issue.
