I have never tried them, so I don't feel the need for them, as I can stop effieciently. if I try them I may want them though. As a year-round commuter I was chewing through a set of rims a year due to rim brakes. I had to treat wheels as a consumable and therefore never bought decent ones. I went disc on my new bike to save my wheels. Difficult to tell the performance difference. In the dry, I always found a well-adjusted rim brake absolutely fine. The disc brakes on my new bike are superb in all conditions (although I'm reluctant to compare to rims as I'm now running hydraulic brakes so not a fair comparison).

I commute to work on foot. cycling is a hobby for myself rim wear is not an issue, but I would like to try a disc brake bike just to see. I can see other advantages too, with a greater tyre width selection without the caliper limitations.

Oddly I've just finished watching that one Gary, interesting but think I'll stick with Decathlon/Halfords.
