Not really a problem the way I have mine set up. Big front and last couple of big on the back require me to 'trim' click the shifter for the front derailleur. Then there is no rub. Im using the 105 10 speed and like Paulinblack never really had a problem when using the trimmer on the shifter.

Cycling in London (or any major city) from what I have seen is a little different to the stuff I do. I would be petrified in London as everything is a little quicker, less tolerant and more crowded and congested. The passing gaps and the gaps people zip through are smaller. Interesting, I've done a reasonable amount around London, without much. I feel FAR safer in London than Reading. In London drivers expect bikes, in Reading they don't look for them at all, as I already knew before I found out violently to my cost. I very strongly believe the biggest change that could be made to cycling safety is abolishing the word "cyclist". If we could be "people on bikes" it would re-humanise us. I would tend to agree with r0b1let, I cycle from zone 1 in central London out to zone 5 near heathrow daily and without doubt the further from zone 1 I get, the more sketchy the drivers are. Central London looks chaotic but other cyclist volumes raise driver awareness as they probably passed 20 before they get to you. On a road bike, traffic and lights mean that general average speed is only about 20 mph so most of the time you remain with the flow of traffic so don't get passed. I think if you are a slower rider, like on mountain bike then that leads to more passes and more risk. Totally agree with you on the less tolerant though. However that said, the majority of drivers I encounter are good

You would have thought they would have put mud guard mounts on it!

As I still occasionally feel a bit sorry for myself when my new hip aches a bit this rather puts things into perspective. Vicky

Britain's Cycling Superheroes: The Price of Success? www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09glhshVery disappointing comments about TUE's, which amounts to cheating as far as I am concerned.

The man who was caught and admitted cheating. The fact that he was disappointed that there didn't appear to be a new beginning said a lot.

I do hate journalists who say they have a 'duty' to do stuff. They don't, they just want to make money from selling their stories. Annoying though that the salient points are so depressing for the sport.
