Agree, save your money, concentrate on the engine and if you must spend, then buy decent clothing to make the ride better, instead of stationary photo bling, less is more with the stealth bike - you've gone semi pro now, it's all about the riding . That's sound advice. I did pick up some new shoes as I know the bike comes with cheap (but I hope cheerful) SPD-SL pedals. My Muddy Fox SPD shoes are starting to fall apart so I thought this was an appropriate compliment. Promptly went an left the cleats and bolts at the checkout in my excitement at picking up the bike. I'm hoping they'll let me have another set when I pop in later today after work.

I picked up one when it was Β£850. Well worth it as far as I'm concerned. There was a bit of play in the headset and I had to set up the gears properly but once that was done I've no complaints. I changed the pedals as I had better ones from my other bike so that was a no brainier. What I was pleasently surprised about was the saddle, I would normally have changed that as well but I've found no need to so far and I've covered a fair bit of ground since I got it. easily worth the cash especially at Β£700.

Thanks for the heads up jimbo21. I went back to the store and they've given me some new SPD-SL cleats and bolts so I can try those out later and see how the pedals hold up.

Well, it's happened. Now I have to find room for a Mach 700. In the end I managed to try a 59, a 57 and 55 in the Mach frame (not all 700s). 59 just wasn't going to work due to lack of adjustment at the seatpost from the extended seat tube on the Mach frame. Even with the top part of the seat post fixture removed so the seat was really slammed it felt oversized. The 130mm stem was probabaly too long, though stretch didn't seem so much of an issue, but it's so hard to tell riding round the store. The Carlos Fandango like super-wide handle bars made it feel odd though. The 57 felt like it would be just right after several laps of the store but then I couldn't track down a 57 available anywhere. The 55 felt quite compact but with a lot more room to manoeuvre at the seat and bars. I managed to track down a 55 so that's what I have. The Deca size chart suggests I'm on the cusp of 55 and 57 based on height and inside leg and with some ride time and seat adjustment I'm sure I can nail it. I figured reach can be worked on through adjustments at the stem. Just had time for a token gesture ride in work clothes and shoes while on the way home with the bike, going up a couple of short inclines (8% and 5%) near our church building where I was preparing the pool for a baptism on Sunday morning. Equalled my best 3rd place time up the steeper one despite easing off on the flat section at the top because I forgot where the segment ended. Didn't have a previous time on the other incline but I made the top 5 of 50 plus riders behind some of the local fast crew. A lighter carcass as well as a lighter bike must have helped. Far too early to comment on the bike just yet, but I'm smiling and the sun is shining this morning..... Edit: The T3 will stay in the family. The plan is to set it up for Master D who wants to get out on the road more next year. He doesn't know this yet...Β Wish you lot of satisfactiom with the black beast. Just mind about this frame is not endurance like, but pure race, so the comfort was not in the first place when they made it. About size the only issue you can have is in the height difference between saddle and handlebar, but if ride in the up position it won't be a real problem.

I think you're right about the Facet/Mach frame. I certainly feels aggressive and racy. I think it may be a while before I venture for a longer ride on the beast but the couple of short rides so far suggest it wants to move and I want to move on it! I will need to work on the reach and bar/saddle height, as you suggest and a few other things such as fitting and getting used to SPD SL cleats and shoes.

I was at Decca buying a MTB for my son today and gazed longingly at the Mach 720. I chatted with the manager about the 700 offer and the possibility of a similar offer on the 720 at some point in the future. He told me that the 700 was an offer of a lifetime and he managed to shift lots of them. There had been a lot of stock in the country, but there are only a handful of 720s left, so he thought it unlikely that they will be sold off cheap. So, it looks like the boy ChrisD done good!

In Italy the few 700 left are sold in store only and with a price of 450 pound!! Lucky those who will buy it. No price drop on 720.
