I had the bike set up in store for me (in about 30 seconds...) and it felt about right. After a few rides, and the standard aches and pains, I have made a few, one at a time, adjustments after consulting various websites on the ideal setup (mythical!). Each time I've 'cured' the problem a new one tends to appear which feels worse than the last! Now reached the stage where I have reawakened a back injury from 25 years ago which I thought was consigned to history and I've decided that enough is enough . It's time to get fitted! i thought that being tall and skinny and a regular runner I could just wing it - but I guess not! Will let you know how I get on. For extra info I'm 47, never been a cyclist and pretty inflexible - in more ways than one!

OK, well that was interesting. Only took about 40 mins but didn't charge anything (my new LBS!). Turns out that I should have the saddle 1cm higher but that everything else is pretty much where it should be - very tiny moves. He didn't like my MTB pedals particularly and felt that I might be more comfortable on longer rides with Road type pedals, I think because you have a bit more movement, but I might have misunderstood. Anyway, might as well give those a try - the missus won't notice difference so I can get away with it Oh, he also said 'man up' - it's supposed to ache a bit when ur a newbie
