16!Kmh or mph? If I try 16 mph average over 80miles the lads will be inheriting. lol Don't worry, it isnt as bad as it seems I'll put it this way, think... Rollercoaster... As soon as your coming off a downhill your into a hil but by the time your reached the top of the hill, your on another downhill again, picking up speed. let the momentum carry you. Trust me, going towards there is effortless. especialy wind with. czu what you don't realise is on the way home, we dont' need to rush, cruz it back Plus if we pace ourselves for the 1st half of the ride, isnt that a decent training exercises in itself? ...Just so you know, on the 1st page, I'll start making a list on who is going to be joining us. Drop me a message on either my inbox or quote this with your name and bike (I just wanna see how many T3's will be riding ) and I'll add you to the list. Again, this isnt unit 18th sept so you have got plenty of time to prepare yourselves.

Hi everybody, Just thought I'd bring this up again since we'll be getting few more people joining us soon (Hopefully )... Anyways, I've currently asked my manager for the 18th September off as holiday, and if all goes well... I'll be getting this event underway. I'll be sending this around our store and told them that friends who also own road bikes are welcome so if you've got a family member or friend you wanna bring along, your more than welcome. I'm asking about tops to be prepared for this and if again the thumb is up, I'll be asking for sizes to get them printed. I might be getting possible bibs to do a matching kit however that is a TBC... if any questions, lemme know and I'm sure we can get something sorted out. If local, drop me a message and I'll let you know when I'm next in store if you wanna have a chat And just for the record: I've finalised the Poll and we'll be doing the "The Decathlon to Stoke-on-Trent" ride. the total milage is 70.6 miles, 35.3 miles each way. Recommendation for people who already live a distance away from wednesbury (stafford, cannock, sutton-colfield, Birmingham, but mainly Stoke), there are 2 options you could do... 1. Catch a train down to Wednesbury and meet up on the car park and, if from stoke, only do the 1/2 ride if you wanted to and break the #5 rule...OR... 2. Drive down, park on Decathlon Car Park (I'll make sure we've got Allocated spaces) and ride with us the full journey. The choice is yours... Happy Riding and if your doing this, happy training Dan Arny 5 Triban

Does decathlon stock bottle carriers that will hold oxygen? It can't be that bad? No of course not. That was a bit of hyperbole for the amusement of fellow forumites. Actually, I tend to stop before the need for oxygen takes over, sadly this is likely to be less than 35 miles at the moment. My current maximum distance is 29 miles which felt long enough and continued to feel long enough for the next couple of days. The thought of doing 35 miles there, THEN 35 miles back is a daunting prospect, especially combined with a few hours driving. I am improving I know, I did 27 miles yesterday with an average speed of 17.1mph and don't feel that bad today. But fitness is a hard thing to get back.

Once yes but twice for the day sounds every inch a challenge.

well, you have got plenty of riding left until the event nearly 3-4 months worth really so its all good as i said, don't forget we'll be in a pack so drafting will be done and that will give you loads of recovery, when i rid as a 4 group i thought the ride when drafting was really easy so a group of 6+ will feel much more effective. Basically, you'll be able to hold 18+ and find it easy. so 35 miles will fly by... plus there ent many drastic hills, id say the only 1 will be cannock and thats it, after that its just undulating. We'll be having a meal up there so plenty of time to rest and recover then ride back. Sound good?...

Just improve fitness and have the confidence to feel like you can do it and you'll be able to do anything Think about it, when we get to stoke, they're be a Big, Long rest before we set off, as well as finding somewhere nice to eat and drink

Not heard anything about this for a while, so i thought I'd look it up and give it a bump.
Sadly I'm not likely to be taking part. It was my intention to do so, but I knew it would require me to get to a certain level of fitness. I was well on the way in June, but then I had my appendix out and I've not been on a bike since June 17, and won't be until late August.
I still intend to take the day off, and will look out for you there.
Or how would you feel about me joining you closer to the finish?
