Goodo. I think cars would be fine at Decathlon. I can't remember any barriers at the car park. They should have CCTV I reckon. It'll be a long day but well worth it.

I'll put it this way captslog and JD. When i did the ride last yea where i ridden to the start, ridden to the alton halfway marker, then BAck to stoke to then come ALL the way back down... WE reached 100 miles all together. I was already dead when i got to alton but with all the breaks we we're having, it made much more easier. Plus we've got from now 'til september to train and from the milage I've seen people do, it shouldn't be so bad. WE kept our pace at 18mph and there's a lot of downhill free-rolling so you can save energy there. me and some other reached wednesbury to trentham gardens in under 2hours. Thats also including the 5 min rest we had going up there in stafford. There will be coffee rests and time to socialise. I ain't gunna get you to ride all there in once (I'm not that cruel lol). I'm thinking ride to the start. 5-10 minute rest at stafford. drink and refill water bottles, get some snacks down us. carry on a ride up to stoke. watch it up there, go find somewhere to eat and drink. Ride back to stafford, another small 5-0 minute rest and ride back home. That's what I'm thinking and trying to get enough people so i can get some tops with logo's all over it for triban owners club, b'twin and decathlon. (decathlon is needed to get free printing) Regarding parking for decathlon, Your more than happy to park on decathlon and I'd park next to where the doors and bike locks are... We've got security guards patrolling in and around decathlon so your fine with that. I'll also be letting the store and duty managers know as well. Time wise, This just depends on when they start riding. Last year, we met up for about 7ish and ridden to a local maccy D's to get breakfast and hot drinks to prepare, then hit on route. Until they give us times to know when it starts. Its TBC. hope this helps

This trip is on my birthday as well, shame it's not closer for me - I'll have a think about it, I took my lad last year and he's only 10 which would make doing the ride really tricky at that distance if he came along.

Arny/Dan, I thank you for your faith in my riding stamina, but I'm left thinking that you might be younger and fitter than me.
I only returned to cycling (re-cycling?) about 18 months ago after a 35 year break, I'm 54 and although Mrs Slog and I have our moments, I like to think that she would rather I reached more than 55.
I like the idea and I'll see what I can do. Does decathlon stock bottle carriers that will hold oxygen?

Although i am younger and more active, you may have the upper hand with the experience on riding. I have only been a roadie for nearly 9 months and about a 8 months before that i was only local riding to work and back with leisure riding. Plus age means nothing... I had a chap that went bombing past me in 2 things, a local ride in the 100mile ride i did, and he ridden form a similar area. reach an uphill and the bloke left me now he looked to be late 60's and early 70's. The other was in a cyclo cross event... Although i was on a MTB, the vet's in the race that not only give me a half a lap headstart still overtoook me and LAPPED me. With that evidence and background, age to me really is just a number... (and just a lil point, BBC news, the 100 years old bloke running 7 marathons in 7 days...need anymore proof?..) lol, we sell gas botles but not ones'd I'd wanna breathe in ahaha I have taken into account people's ricin ability and with us in a group, the pace will be a lil slower, possible abotu 16mph but we are in a group so drafting will make it easier. 1 person leads for about a mile then drops to back?...
