Planet X keep pointing out that it's no lightweight. Shame really as it's a great name.

I have been tempted by this, a Holdsworth was my first road bike back in 1982, wonderful hand made frame-reynolds tubes-so light, comfortable and agile, a real work of craftsmanship. Of course I got it 3rd hand and it had probably seen better days but none the less the halcyon days of youth eh...! Had tubs on it too. The geometry though of this one put me off as it's a bit long and low, prefer something more relaxed like the triban angles. Would love to know how it rides though.

I have thought about buying the frame which is selling for £350 but I am not really keen on either of the colour schemes. Its certainly good value for £700 all in. I would need to do the maths to work out the best option as I have a lot of parts I could use already but would need to obtain a decent compact crankset, cassette and shifters.

Just read the review and they're quoting £1400. Rrp. That's got to add another star.

Just read the review and they're quoting £1400. Rrp. That's got to add another star. Yes, I think that you are right. The review is not that critical of the bike, just a limit on size and 'average wheels'. TBH I am tired of reviews critiquing wheels on fully built bikes, ultimately bike builders are trying to spec a bike to meet a price and as most of us are preoccupied with groupsets, they scrimp on wheels to hit a budget. I am very tempted, I may see if I can pop into PlanetX and have a look at one over the next few weeks. I like the green colour and whilst it hasn't got Ultegra, I think that I will be happy with Tiagra shifters. It is a shame that they have not used a Tiagra crank though. Also, the review says that it is at the racier end of the spectrum with regards geometry, so I am not too sure if this suits me. Any views about the geometry greatly appreciated. I am very interested and the price will be more palatable to my wife than £1000. A quick google highlighted that Holdsworth was bought by Falcon cycles and now appear to only be available through PlanetX.

I am in a similar position, but like Panda says, not sure about the geometry. I suppose a trip to Sheffield would be the only way to see, but that's quite a way from Dunstable! Did have heart set on a Ribble Sportive Bianco frameset (which I have tried and loved) when the budget allowed, but that's another 180 more and drifting into the never never time. ....

If something is too good to be true then it usually is?
I've been debating between ribble and Planet X...going round in circles...

Think I'm gonna hold off until the end of the season and try to get a decent 2014 bike in the sales. Liking the Lapierre Sensium 300 at the moment, or maybe a BMC, Giant Defy Advanced 2 or Spesh Tarmac.
