@al and anyone else that buys this light, watch out for the power pack, make sure its secure when you attach to bike, mine fell off tonight, hope they do replacement packs Not good! There's plenty of battery packs on eBay. I'm guessing it was too dark to find it when it dropped off?

Have wrapped electrical tape round my battery as the top and bottom is only cardboard and will go soggy Where are you putting yours baz? I've put mine on top of the rear forks as I have my pannier on at the moment it is secure in there . Had it on top tube, didn't notice it missing till i hit a dark spot on road and went to turn it on.

I forgot to post that i eventually found the power pack ( battery ) dont be laffing now, so i thought i lost it on sunday night , looking down at top tube eyes welling up with water (was cold) and couldn't see anything while out riding bike, got home and placed bike in hall way (was dark there too) went out on hybrid on monday morn and retraced steps, even asked a road sweeper if he came across it, search and rescue was a fail so was pretty pissed off, thats fine, been walking past bike all day back and forth in hall way (musta had blinkers on) then just before heading to bed monday night i noticed under the seat of the bike a little black pouch and went ah f*ck ! the bloody thing had slid down the top tube disconnecting the cable from the torch itself and rested under the saddle , if i had have taken the T3 out to look for it then id have noticed it, ah well least its found and saved me money and time

Replacements only Β£8.99 chap prob worth getting a spare. I did look for a replacement, found two links but wasn't sure if they were compatible and they didn't get good reviews. cocopops there are a few links out there , google "Cree light spare battery" some on ebay and other sites but some are for different models so not sure if they all fit each other.

Good shout with the tape Spoakes, having the cardboard there is a tad daft. i've mounted the battery pack on the front of the head tube and hope it does not rattle about. Not tried the light in anger yet as the weather here is atrocious but the beam is very bright.

How did the lights survive the winter? Are they still as strong as when originally purchased, and are the batteries still holding a charge? Cheers Damo

I've been running 2 x XML T6s on my MTB all over the winter months.
The first one was a 1800 lumens model with 1 x LED, the second was a 3600 lumens model which had 3 LEDs. I've found them both to be very good. The point of having two was that I'd read write ups about the poor battery life and the fact they don't give much warning between showing nearly depleted and going out. I bought a second so I'd have a spare battery - It was just as cheap to buy the 1800 lumen version as buy a battery.
I decided, that since I had the second light, I might as well use it as a helmet light, with the 3600 on the handlebars. Really good, but felt bad that I was shining such a bright light in drivers faces when looking around. So took it off after one commute and put it on the handlebars. I've put diffusers on both to stretch the beam. This makes them a little less fierce in the middle of the beam and focuses it a 'little' more like dipped beam on a car.
Spent virtually the whole winter using the lights for between 2-4 hours per week on max power. I staggered the charging so that I always had at least one light with 1/2 charge. Both are still going strong, with little sign of deterioration (fingers crossed). Now that it is light (but early morning) when I commute, I've started to use the strobe (on one light only), but am pointing it to the ground, so as not to induce epilepsy!
I have also bought the U2 to put on the Triban. I liked having two units on the MTB, but the U2 is smaller and I didn't want the extra weight of two units on my 'best' bike! But, I haven't used it in anger yet, so can't give a review.

Cheers nomoreheroes.
I have to get one for my commute. It includes sections of unlit country lanes sometimes at 3am. Using a sigma front light from Deca at the moment and its just plain dangerous.
