Decision on the MIO: I checked their website and you cant update the software etc with a MAC and as that is all I use, I can't buy one!
OK, so Ohoward, keep telling us all about the Bryton 50!

Well I know the Bryton is Mac compatible.
One small niggle I do have is that you HAVE to use their 'Bryton Bridge' software to get the files off the device. This isn't a massive problem for me - the software seems very capable - but it would be nice to just plug the device in and navigate to the file I want through explorer, using it as a mass storage device.

Is it rude to ask how much you found the Bryton 50 for and where? I notice that there are some very good deals on eBay, but these are from Israel.

I nearly bought the Bryton rider 50 off ebay from Israel for £108 posted with the intention of getting the garmin hrm and speed cadence sensor at a later date. My problem was that I went away for a weekend and intended to buy when I returned home on the Sunday but thankfully the auction ended. I say thankfully because on further investigation, reading the terms and conditions on the Garmin and Bryton sites about warranty they do not cover you if purchasing from auction sites and abroad. The halfords offer on the Mio came at the right time.

I gather its not recognised as a mass storage device then How have you found uploading to Strava? Has all the HRM and speed/cadence info been included in the upload as Strava handles GPX files different to other sites from my experience.

Save it as a tcx file to your pc and then upload to Strava. Works a treat.

I upload .tcx files to Strava from Cyclemeter, file type keeps sensor data intact.

The halfords offer on the Mio came at the right time. I doubt that they could really uphold this clause. I don't know the consumer protection acts that well, but I expect that they would have to uphold any warrantee claims. Also, technically speaking if you buy something from Amazon, you are buying it from Luxembourg, so does this mean Garmin & Bryton won't honour any warrantee claims? I doubt it. I am sorry if I sound negative Bob, but it makes me cross when companies try and influence consumers decisions by creating spurious rules. If they have a problem with grey imports, then they need to sort their own international marketing and pricing polices out, not get the consumer to do it for them.

I think that most of us know about Garmin, but not too much about Mio & Bryton et al.

When I was looking, many years back, they had quite a few of the high end navigation systems. Looks like they are trying to challenge Garmin for a share of the sports industry which is a good thing. Garmin, being the best, are overpriced. Bryton I've only heard through TOC and not before.
