I happened to be in decathlon yesterday and took a little ride on the FC3 around the store and must say it felt great, feels very light and looks stunning.
It got me thinking about a new bike (like a kid in a toy shop), and although it would be a long way off (im still happy riding my T3 fo the foreseeable) I wondered for the money £850 could the FC3 be beaten?
What do you guys think??

ok I must agree that the Planet X Pro Carbon Shimano Ultegra Road Bike is a very good buy spec wise. It's likely the main competition would start off at around £1500-£2000 mark for a similar spec. Yet I think the FC3 is by far the prettier bike and you will need an extra £150.
I know you are going to say that it's worth it and the amount of money it would cost to upgrade the FC3 to the X Pro would most probably be the price of the FC3! It's just that the FC3 looks the business while the X Pro looks stately.

I agree the FC3 looks really good and in the flesh looks pretty special, looks alone I think it trumps the planet x though component/wheel wise its always going to be the planet x. Looking at their site you can pick from 4 colours black, white, red and guru blue. I think you can mix frame and fork colours to.

Self adjusting and trimming gears gets a thumbs up from me I can get obsessed with messing with the T3 gears looking for smoothness trying to tweak them just so. Though not sure id always remeber to keep them charged up!

The wheels on that Planet X are only shimano 501's though! That's normal. Most bikes around this price, I don't think you'll get fantastic wheels. The cost of the frame and groupset needs to come from somewhere to get it at this price. I'm going to be asking myself the same thing for my next bike and as O says, I can't think of anything at that price level. Anyone taken the FC3 out for the three day test drive?

Apparently archeologists interest is in the distant past and carbon dating. We share an interest... I am looking at the next 12 months once my cycle to work scheme is up and have a date with a carbon framed FC3!

Looking at their site you can pick from 4 colours black, white, red and guru blue. I think you can mix frame and fork colours to. Now with me racing, i see a lot of quality frames and various bikes. the planet X frames are nice but i'll point out though. 1. The black frame is referred to as a 'naked frame' where there is no coating of paint and a visible weave. Now the weave isnt too bad but is very thick. But the main issue is the way they've labelled the bike with the planet X logo. They've made it look cheap and tacky. 2. unless your a female, you wont be going for a baby blue coloured bike with 'flowers' on the steerer tube. 3. Now i love the white but, with me and experience of white, dirt shows easier if it has been ridden plus if you get light scratches in the paintwork, if you dont polish everytime you ride it, it will start to look dirty. The only decent 1 going is the fire red. Plain, simple and looks bad ass. The only thing to take note is its made of a slightly more basic carbon. But for the money, cant go wrong. Id stick to the red and white if my choice for a heads-up. Plus, be careful as well, they dont have to meet a lot of standards with the bike as your effectively buying it as a set of part, NOT a bike. Thats why they charge you for pedals. If pedals come as preset on the bike, they have to meet higher standard of regulations.
