:-SHappened to me twice. Both when I unclipped my left foot (always do this first) and then tried to put my right foot on the ground. First time it was outside of my house after a 40mile ride with some friends and I fell on my friend. The second was a month ago when cycling to Paris with the same friends. I fell on the ground and they all laughed saying that they all had me in the sweepstake to fall first That is cold! and I thought I had it bad!

im fine on stock t3 pedals and stiff soled shoes never have an issue and feel confident on the roads but when clipped in takes me a few seconds to clip in or out and when its wet longer...maybe not meant to be clipless lol What make pedals are you using? I know some even though they can be loosened are still on the tight side. I have a set of Look Keo Easy pedals which I got from trusty decathlon and they are super easy to get out of, even a couple times when I've had a panic dismount and thought I was going to fall I managed to stumble my foot out. May be worth trying unless thats the ones you already have. Clipless pedals are a chore but the benefits are immense especially on longer journeys.

Well I announced my fall from grace 10ft into my first clip-in on my lawn. So I learned quickly. 4 days and 50 miles later I saw a friend in his garden. I waved. He beckoned. I slowed. I forgot to unveil. I fell. T5 unscathed. my thanks to my laughing friend and to the 2 car drivers who stopped out of concern. Especially the gent who turned turned round and came back!
Totally loving road biking!

Fell off last Thursday. Come to a stop to cross traffic and forgot and keeled over to my right in what can only be described as slow motion. Lay there for a while laughing and feeling like a right pillock. Not one person around came to see if I was ok the ignorant buggers. My faith in human nature is fading ha! :-P

I have just upgraded to clip less pedals and shoes this week and have heard a lot of horror stories of people falling over at light etc. In my infinite wisdom i thought I would practice around my garden first to get the hang of it before taking on the roads. With my heavily pregnant wife holding me up whilst I clipped in and set off for a lap around our garden and all was going absolutely ace until I wanted to stop. In my head it was easy to unclip, just push your heel out and stop, simples! In reality I was going over, hip and shoulder then head straight into some dog s@#t! The pain wasn't as bad as the smell but I was more concerned that my pregnant wife was gonna give birth 4 weeks early through laughing so much! I was ready to launch my 'Red Rocket' over the fence. After washing my cloths, having a shower, calming the Mrs and some horrible flash backs I decided I would give it a few days before trying again. On a positive I was out today for 20 miles today with no falls, so overall very happy with my new purchase.

Make sure you clean up after the dog before your next attempt!

Even though I'm still riding with the standard pedals I have been making a conscious effort to twist my feet when I want to remove them from the pedals. Yesterday on a group ride a couple of the guys who were following me asked what I was doing as I was wearing trainers. I am hoping this will stand me in good stead...
